Not really sure how one person, the President, can be blamed for all of that. Presidents often get sacked with the bad and given credit for the good that happens while they are president. Most of the time, however, they don't have enough control to be blamed or given credit. Bush does not control the economy. His policies are only one part of a larger puzzle.
@Rev = if we give the president credit for the good that happens on his watch shouldn't we equally give him credit for the bad? If Obama was in office as much as one day and this same headline was posted I think you would agree.
Only one president I recall in recent history was "sacked" and he was ardoned. You don't see how we blame the president for the economy? What president in recent history has not had their success or failure measured by the amount of unemployment? I didn't make this stuff up. I clearly see how employment will do more for our economy than a $600 tax cut but maybe I don’t see so good from the cheap seats.
Most of those jobs you see lost were really sent overseas. Off shoring has become an acceptable term. We even incent large corporations for sending jobs overseas under the disguise that we are boosting those foreign economies. 1. Charity should begin at home (I mean you want to cut social programs, how about a job?). 2. The only ones benefitting is Wall Street.
If the president sit's idle and watches his people's job get sent overseas and even allows tax breaks to be given for these actions??? i think I'll include that in his legacy.

The president cannot interfere with the daily activities of businesses even when you or I do not like it. If they are sending jobs overseas he has no authority to say no. Maybe some folks ought to actually study what the President actualy does.
I am not a fan of Presidnet Bush. I do not care for his spending nor his position on border security. He hasn become very liberal with it all. And I do not care for these checks on the way. But it is rather selective to condemn him for job loss right now and ignore all the jobs created throughout his Presidency and then saddle him only with job losses. What is his total job loss/increase ration for the entire administration? It appears you want to pay attention only to what you can condemn him for. Personally I can think of several things to criticize him for and hold him responsible for. He has done a poor job in quite a few areas. But so much of the economy is not really up to the President. Most everyone knows it and yet some just flap their gums about nothing anyway.

This is not a natural downturn in the economy. What caused this mess is pure greed of both consumers and lenders, and now everybody pays. This is not going away in a few months, but a long term deal.
Perhaps one of the biggest mistakes of the baby boom generation is giving our kids too much and never saying no. The concept of starting off married in your 20s with a modest house, modest car, and a budget no longer exists. Now, we start off with $300,000+ houses, $40,000 dollar cars, restaurants on credit cards no one has any intention of paying, no savings, no thought of retirement. When enough do this, and default, we all suffer. This has just started.

As a whole, this country has lost any sense of personal responsibility and look to Uncle to subsidize their foolishness, greed, and stupidity.
And, thanks to the liberal element, Uncle Sam has done just that and soon the piper must be paid.
This, and all the other problems of our nation are not, REPEAT NOT, going to be solved by Uncle Sam or UHC, or socialized medicine, or anything else that the government gets its grubby hands on or into. (Most things gov't gets involved in tend to self-destruct)
The ONLY solution to this country's uncertain (hopefully JUST uncertain) future is a return to the basics of God fearing and morality - neither of which the liberal element in this country favor.
It's a selfish desire I know, but I'm ready for the rapture, and let these yo-yos that think God is dead or at best irrelavent, and think the gov't is their salvation, to have this ole country and real quick see just how truly messianic gov't really is.

In January 2002 President Bush signed the bill that granted Permanent Normal Trade Status with China (after Congressional approval from the Republican majority in both houses, of course), despite massive human rights violations. Yes, I would say, this economic downfall is part of the Bush Legacy. He is one of the worst presidents we have ever had, IMO.
