(Daniel 3v16-18)…O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
They saw two optionsBe careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
What kind of power would we have today if each of us had the conviction of these men?For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
(Daniel 3v28)Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
Thirdly, because they trusted God they “yielded their bodies to Him.” When believers refuse to yield their bodies to God as instructed in Romans 6v13:It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.[/QUOTE
…it is simply because they have never trusted Him. So many believers are holding on their old way of life, they refuse to relinquish control to the Lord’s leadership. They refuse to yield. They refuse to submit their bodies as living sacrifice.
Finally, because of all of the above they refused to bow down.
Do you trust God enough today to choose God over king. Note that disobeying the king may have consequences. “The powers that be are ordained of God” and like the king in this story they have the right to punish those who chose to disobey them.
Finally, do you trust God enough to stop yielding to the flesh and yield yourself to God.
It all comes down to a matter of trust. Do you TRULY trust God?
(NKJV)14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
15 For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.
16 To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things?
17 For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.
