Here will be another outlet for the people who rationalize Catholic bashing as a central part of their `Christian service,' rather than focus on more healthy things.

How about another crackdown on these sorts of threads? They exist for little more than an outlet for people who hate Catholicism -- or Catholics -- to vent. I see nothing more than an occasion to indulge carnal urges -- certainly no opportunity for anything positive.

For those of you who are so eager to indulge your vent ill-feelings about Catholicism or Catholics, please take a moment to read that article.

THAT is what giving in to those feelings leads to when it runs it full course.

The man had a wife and children. He was a community servant. He was outside in the Catholic neighborhood, and now he is dead.

Ask yourself how you felt about what happened there. Were you sad -- or pleased? This will tell you how far along you are on that course.

There is a difference between wishing to have a reasonable discussion of the errors of Catholicism's precepts, versus wanting to vent on grudges. A lot more people seem more interested in the latter than the former. Threads and posts that essentially say `Come join me in bashing the Catholic church' are a form of the latter.

Satan is a master deceiver. He is very good at making what is evil appear to be good. He can make indulgence in hateful feelings seem like something good because `We are just taking a stand for the truth.' However, there are wrong ways to be right. We can rest assured that if we are venting hateful thoughts while `We are taking a stand for the truth' we are still indulging in hateful thoughts.

Jesus was clear in Matthew 5 about the connection between hateful thoughts and murder, as was 1 John 3:15. The article I linked above is an illustration of this truth.

This stuff needs to stop.

Chesterton is very popular with a lot of evangelicals, so it's good to know he said this. We need to open our eyes to the increasing popularity of Roman Catholic "practices" entering the evangelical church.

Somehow it seems that most outlandish remarks contain more than a grain of truth. I would say that Chesterton probably lacked good grounding in knowledge of scripture and this is what drove him to say this. Nevertheless, we differ widely in our understanding of scripture. Anyone who doubts this needs only to spend about 30 minutes reading the posts in this forum.

Its comparing the heretical and blasphemous idolatries of the Church of Rome up against the truth found in the scriptures. Its not a joyful thing...but it is a needfull thing to do.

Nobody hates Catholic people, or Catholic sympathisers. The proof is that we are taking the time and effort to tell them the truth. If we "hated" them we would leave them alone and refuse to try and pull them out of the quaqmire they are stuck in.

Since when is sharing the true gospel with those who do not believe the true (saving) gospel a "carnal" activity?

I wish they would open it up to Catholics again. I cant understand why they would choose to close an opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who desperately need to hear it.

I'm just glad in the knowledge that there are surely Catholic lurkers who read...even though they are forbidden to interact.

You are being ridiculous. Those people in that news story are degenerate murderous goons and thugs.

That does not in the least bit represent sane rational loving evangelicals who calmly proclaim the truth about Catholicism to Catholics in need of that truth.

Thanks, I was not aware of that. What irritates the fire out of me is comparing Catholic attitude towards Baptists or any Protestant denomination compared to how we view them. For example, a devoted Catholic thinks we are all going to hell because we are outside the "true" church. Most of us think there are saved Catholics despite their insane theology. We give Catholics the freedom to express their ideas here, because we can use them to mop the floor because of the strength of our belief in the Bible. Try going to a Catholic forum and doing the opposite. They have no substance, so they resort to such unfair tactics.

Moderators, I would hope that we can debate these different groups based on our beliefs without acting like they do through exclusion.

If in fact Catholics cannot join anymore, it should be posted in the rules. I cannot find it.

Even if priests were posing as non lay people, I cannot imagine it being much of a challenge to expose them for the false beliefs they advocate.

Baptist Board has undergone a number of changes throughout its history.
It used to tolerate atheists, evolutionists, Catholics, other cults like the United Pentecostal, and a variety of others. Catholics are one of the groups that the administration banned. They were using this site as a place to proselytize, and advertise their religion. Some of their best apologists were sent here. This is a place for Baptists: their discussion, for them to debate, and occasionally we allow some other religions as well--some, but not all. That is up to the discretion of the administration, and has no bearing on the rules that need to be kept. Those rules are posted at the bottom of each page, and those are the ones that each of need to be acquainted with.
Administrative policy is left up to the administration.

Well, pardon me if I do not see any love in starting a thread such as this -- or any of the other discussions against Catholicism or Catholics that are of this thread's intended nature.

Frankly, I do not see any love in a thread designed to get people to have bad feelings against the Catholic church or its people. Announcements that `The Catholic church does this-or-that bad thing; let us talk about it' are not to Catholics, and will not result in much more than venting. That is why I see no love in starting this thread -- there is not any.

Paul wrote those famous words TO the Galatians. Paul did NOT write a general letter talking ABOUT the Galatians, or solicit more negative comments about the Galatians. Paul wrote those words TO the Galatians, in a letter dripping with demonstrations of love and concern for the Galatians.

I bet that most of these addicts to venting grudges against Catholicism or Catholics do not actually DO anything for Catholics. I bet the most they do with respect to Catholics is come to the Internet to post about Catholicism or Catholics, or vent about the same subjects in the privacy of their own groups.

Are there any Catholics here on this board? No. They are banned. If they do not want to see their religion -- or them -- bashed for fun, they best not even read here. Many of them no doubt have made exactly that decision.

Threads like this do not help anyone do anything productive. Since when is a thread entitled "The Catholic Church does not believe what the Bible says..." an effort to be "sharing the true gospel" with Catholics? It is not. Catholics will learn little to nothing of the Gospel by reading a thread with that intended topic -- but s/he will learn that there are professing Christians that have a lot of bad things to say about their religious group.

What is more healthy than venting grudges? I think the Bible can tell us that. Hebrews 10:24 " and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works" (ASV). Titus 3:8b "that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people" (ESV).

Want to preach the Gospel? Want to evangelize the lost? Do so. Take the values and priorities the Lord appointed for us as you go. They seem to be lacking in what gets rationalized as `evangelizing lost Catholics.'

No, threads like this are outlets to vent the types of feelings that led to the murder of that Catholic man with a family as reported in that news article. They are nothing better than that, no matter how much people like you try to spin it.
