2. I believe they will.

3. Without some serious change, I don't think they will remain financially viable.

No that is the BWA (baptists for world evangelism). It is a mission's orginization, not a denomination or association of Baptist churches like the SBC or CBF

CBF formed out of the Conservative resurgence in the SBC as an alternate cooperating option for those churches that disagreed with the more conservative SBC direction. Some churches are dualy aligned with both.

CBF itself has not endorsed homosexual marriage or Clergy, but there are churches within it who have, which is why some think that an official statement in support of such is inevitable, just a matter of time.

CBF has been working for years now to make sure they will be viable for years to come. I think for the most part the directions they laid will do exactly that. As for the issue with homosexuality, I think they will continue in the path they already have established for the foreseeable future. There simply isn't the collective mass to make any changes to the current policy, despite what is being reported in SBC news organizations and by SBC leaders, which seem to enjoy speaking out of school about things they know nothing about.

There used to be homo$exual CBF pastor that posted on her several years ago. He was quite open about his deviency, and IIRC, he was from a suburb of Atlanta.

I'm not really familiar with the "tenets" of CBF, but they seem to be most definitely leaning to the left scripturally; as evidenced by one of their better known adherents, Jimmy Carter!!

I have a friend that at one time was a member of a dual (SBC, CBF) allegience church, and some of the stuff he told me about the pastor would make a bible believer (if you are a literalist) puke; this homo$exual deal was/is just one of many!

Many Georgia churches are dually aligned. Some of them are that way because folks in the churches give directly to CBF in the name of the church. The churches that I knew in GA really went across the whole spectrum. Some were merely rebelling against what they saw as violation of baptist principles by the SBC (very small minority in my experience). Some were very much more theologically liberal than your average SBC church. I knew a few folks that were pretty influential and if they are any indication, the CBF is headed left.

And the finances DON'T look good.

If you are referring to Joshua Villines:

(1) He was a pastor that was aligned with the Aliiance of Baptists and the CBF, but he complained that the CBF was far too conservative.
(2) He was not and is not a homosexual, although he is an advocate for the full acceptance of gay and lesbians in the church.
(3) He still lives in the Atlanta area - that's about the only part of your statement that is accurate.

You can do an Internet search for him and find multiple websites that will confirm this information, an you can search the archives of BaptistBoard to see what he posted here.

I'm sure you can find all sorts of horror stories in duality-aligned churches, as well as singly-aligned SBC and CBF churches (not to mention IFB churches). I am a member of a dually-aligned SBC/CBF church, and we're not happy with either the CBF or SBC. We support the missionary programs, but not much else. Our church believes and obeys the Bible to the best of our ability.
