Obama has come out with a plan to make it mandatory for salaried workers making less than $50,000 a year to get paid overtime. The current threshold is $23,500.

This means that Obama wants to give 5 million workers a raise with the waving of the government's magic wand.

The Republican candidates are desperately trying to make wage stagnation an issue this election cycle. By raising the minimum wage and (if it is passed) signing a law making mandatory overtime pay for salaried workers, he seems to be taking preemptive steps to make sure the Republicans fail at making this an issue.

Of course anyone with the economic knowledge of a gnat realizes this plan will inevitably lead to a reduction in salaried workers' other job benefits and likely would lead to hiring of less people.

Okay, time and a half for over 40/hrs a week has been pegged at the minimum wage and now he wants to up it to anybody on salary making more than twice the minimum wage?

It's a dynamic situation, companies will either stop overtime or fill these positions with yet more part-time workers. It ought to increase those kind of jobs by breaking them up like that.
