The Close Relationship Between Drugs and Rock Music.

Does it occur to them that the reason drugs and rock music go together is not because of the music, but because of the people who like the music?
Can two walk together except they be agreed?
Drugs and Rock walk together exceptionally well don't you think?
I'm sure opium addicts in the early 1800's loved their rock and roll. I'm sure morphine addicts following the Civil War loved their rock and roll. We all know cocaine addicts in the early 1900's LOVED their rock and roll.

Drugs "walk well together" with any activity enjoyed by any individual who also entertains the use of drugs. I like the way Padre put it:

This is the best book I have read on this subject. Lots of level-headed analysis by a deep theological thinker in John Frame. Please consider it before you assign sinfulness to something that God does not.

I don't believe in "poisoning the well", but Jesus-is-Savior is a terrible source. They engage in rumor-mongering, slander, and gossip, not facts.
If you want to try to argue that rock music is bad, that's fine. But please, for the sake of your own argument, don't use a source that's so bad, it's the object of universal ridicule.

I think I've already said all that I needed to on this subject, but I agree that jesus-is-savior.com isn't a very good source. The man behind the site was convicted of raping a minor, and besides that the site just reads as ill-informed and relying on shock value.
About as good as obesity and the fellowship pot luck.

SIGH - I've been involved in listening to rock for years.
Never once did I take a drug nor did any of my friends - even when going to *gasp* rock concerts! There are just as many drug addicts who listen to classical music, I'd venture a guess. It's not the music but the heart.
I'll bet druggies even use the internet!! We'd better avoid it too.

It occurs to me that we -- at least, I -- have been callous toward you and your purpose in posting this thread. As I recall from your recent testimony elsehwere on BB, you are a recent convert (three years ago??) and were soon thereafter delivered from drug and alcohol addiction. It is my guess that rock music, concerts, etc., may have been one of your triggers, would that be a fair assessment?
I apologize, and ask your forgiveness, if I have been dismissive and rude or have otherwise been condescending in response to you. The fact is, while nothing, as we've said here, is sin that God has not called sin, the triggers or temptations for us to sin are nonetheless something we should avoid at all costs. Not that they are sin for all, but if they may lead to sin for us, they are not a good use of our time or attention.
Therefore, for you, obviously it is best to avoid rock music venues of all types, if the chance you will be tempted to return to the lifestyle exists. And while "jesus-is-savior.com" is indeed a horrible example of online evangelism and a poor source for Christian teaching, counsel and information, there is no way you should be expected to know that. None of that is relevant to the fact that all of us have something in our pasts that is best left dead and buried. Playing around the grave and digging into it are not ideas or activites we should contemplate. God bless. :thumsbups:
