Preacher, there's just no telling what rabbits we'll be chasing when you drop by.

Sherrie, purple is the common color for rose of Sharon, but I've also seen red, pink and white varieties.

I heard that!!! Unloaded, safely tucked away in the cabinet--it takes an act of Congress to get the key from the little nail to unlock the thing--

This is my last post 'till Thursday--takin' the wife and kids to Alabama to see her mom and dad early tomorrow morning--stayin' till Wednesday. Its been since Thanksgiving that I've visited.

Ya'll take care of things--welcome the new preacher on the block--don't talk about me behind my back now!!!! HAAAA! Ya'll are good Baptists--ya'll wouldn't do such a thing!!

Until then--

Your Southern Baptist preachin, Alabama bound buddy,
Blackbird

Have a good trip, Blackbird. We'll keep an eye on the D-9 that's parked in the alley.

BTW: It was 93 here this afternoon. It's supposed to cool down a bit this week, but only to the 80s and upper 70s.

We've had very little bad weather so far, but it's still early. Sometimes I think having to listen to the TV weatherman's Chicken Little routine is worse than the storms he's warning of.

Have a safe trip blackbird. I will miss you! Have fun!

I think I want the pink Rose of Sharons rsr. I want to make a fence row of them. 80 ft on one side. Well thats half of one side. I was thinking one between each fence post. I don't think I have seen white. Is it like the Hycinthian bushes, the more fertilized the dirt, the difference in color?

At the old house I had Hycinthian bushes. Loved them.

I want some Peonies too.

preacher...there is no telling what we will be talking about in here. last week it was Haggis and bashed neeps. By the way...you think you could get me a good deal on some peel and eat shrimp? Yummy! I been craving some. The most we have is frozen at the grocery store.

Make sure to stop in tho, for the Daily Devotion. Jim always has one for us.

Haven't heard a word from Rod. Maybe he's too tuckered to type.

I don't think the color is determined by conditions; there are natural color variations, which gardeners have taken advantage of to cultivate different hues.

Here's a picture of a white rose of Sharon:

Well the white are very pretty. Think I like the pink better. Starting from seed would take forever. 4 years until a bloom. Thats way too long. Now you know what...I am going to have to go daydream at the nursery tomorrow. I hate that...because I always love everything.

Is the shop open this late/early? I just got off work and I need a small snack. Nothing big just a donut or somethin.

Hey preacher, I know you will fit in around here. I do worry tho if you and blackbird get in the same room. You two just might shoot up the place.

Actually my wife treats me like Barney...she lets me keep one bullet in my pocket.
She would love this place though. We got moved into this old farm house the end of march, just renting it, & shes already started in with the plants. She put two yellow rose plants out by the road & has two more for me to dig holes for.
She said something the other day bout' digging up a couple of dogwoods & transplanting them to the front.
Some of you folks would like this place, out in the country, big yard, big trees,(only three though)with plenty of shade. Humongus kitchen, thats what Agee fell in love with, proably 25x25 or so. Still has the chimmney for the old wood cook stove! Good size living room with a middle room we set up for the computer & for me a study.
The bedrooms are the only small rooms, & oh yeah a room that used to be a back porch that belongs to Sam now. Sam's our Rottadore,...or a Labweiler..haven't really figured her out yet!
She's a little over a year old with a years worth of growin' to do yet, about 65 lbs.
My favorite feature in the house...a TIN roof!!
Well I guess I've had my cup of coffee so I can go back to bed now. Had to get up to take Agee to work.
Have a nice day & oh Sherrie, what gave ya the idea I could get a deal on shrimp? Cause I married one???

spiritualising on that, if we want to reach through to the rose of Sharon and admire its beauty and fragrance at close range we often have to suffer the thorns of life on the way.

sorry, I've not worked out how to ge two quotes on the same post.

Just dawned on me that my spiritualising was missed so just a wee explanation. In the OT, (song of solomon?) Rose of Sharon is often taken to be alluding to the Lord.

yours, Jon.
