    Hello, everyone! [IMG]

This week seems to have gone by really fast with one less work day. I am glad the weekend is almost here.

HI Rod! Well I wondered what was up with you! Have missed your post.

Edited as I was disrespectful of anothers feelings and for that I apologize.

My good friends rsr and Blackbird are fulfilling a vow of silence that they have undertaken in penance for their fulsome frivolity.

They will have a 12-step meeting in the bass boutique at 7 p.m. today (unless the Procrastinators Anonymous meeting drags on past that.)

Get the scene, now! Blackbird is at US Marine Headquarters, Camp LeJuene, Paris Island, North Carolina--he's there because Camp Penleton was far too easy--went through their course blindfolded!

He is the newly elected Drill Instructor--and "Man! Is he tough!!" He goes Bear huntin' with a switch!!!! And he is waitin' for the bus load of new recruits fresh from all parts of the United States of America!

"What's keepin' them bunch of sissies??"--he asks his Corporal while glancin' at his watch! "I oughta chew that bus driver out! That's what I'll do!! They're 2.2245 seconds late so far! By golly, that'll mean a lap around the base for every tenth of a second they're late!!"

Meanwhile, here comes the Greyhound bus sloggin' through the mud(it has been rainin' continuously for the past five days straight and even the good Marine tanks and half-tracks are boggin' down--but that means nothin' to Sargeant Major Blackbird! He's seen lots of mud before(even on the board!) And he'll sling his fair share if you give him a halelujah second!

Anyway, there's the bus! It rolls to a stop and the door opens! Sargeant Major is peerin' in! The bus driver happens to be a woman--so he "cuts" her some slack! "Better not happen again!"--he's thinkin' in his mind!! Although a tiny droplet of mud is slung onto his newly polished boots--"I'll get the first recruit who "fowls up" to polish um later!"--is his second thought!!

Sargeant Major Blackbird starts hollerin'(he's use to it 'cause he preaches on Sunday's and Wednesday's at the local Southern Baptist Church---the members there simply love him to death!! Picture perfect preacher!! His "Smokey the Bear" hat is low down on his eyes and his chin strap is pulled up tight! He sees no reason whatsoever why this pile of recruits can't grow to love him just as well!!

"FALL IN! FORM A LINE 3 DEEP AND 10 WIDE! IS THAT CLEAR??!"

"WELCOME TO CAMP LEJUENE AND THIRD MARINES! WHAT IS MY NAME, MARINES??"

    "Master Sargeant Blackbird!"

"MARINES! LET'S MAKE ONE THING CLEAR! I AM THE MASTER SERGEANT! FROM HERE ON OUT--I AM YOUR DADDY! I AM YOUR MOMMA! I WILL BE EVERYTHING YOU NEED ME TO BE! DO WE UNDERSTAND??"

    "Yes, Master Sargeant!"

Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye(keen sense of parifreal vison) and with the keen sense of hearin'--he sees and hears someone snickerin'--responding to the problem with lightnin' fast reflexes he begins to question the problem Marine recruit-- a female! Marvelous! Just what Blackbird needs to start his Monday off!! He already has run through the merciless "gauntlet" from a office full of Deacons--as a resuld of his well prepared sermon on Sunday! And now he has problems with his platoon ain't been off the bus thirty seconds!

    "MARINE! LOOK THIS WAY, MARINE!"
"WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM, MISSY??"
    "Nothing, Master Sargeant!"
"MARINE! THERE'S ALWAYS A PROBLEM! THAT'S WHY THE MARINES HAVE SARGEANT MAJOR! TO SOLVE PROBLEMS!!

Blackbird notices somethin' he ain't never noticed before and begins to question the recruit in question in greater detail!

"MARINE! WHAT'S THAT IN YOUR HAIR!!??"
"Master Sargeant! Its a week old flower, Master Sargeant!!"
"MARINE! WHAT IS YOUR NAME AND WHERE ARE YOU FROM??"
"Marine recruit Sherrie from Dexter, Missouri, Sargeant Major!!"
"MARINE! YOU WILL TELL YOUR MASTER SARGEANT WHAT HE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THAT FLOWER! IS THAT UNDERSTOOD??"

Marine recruit Sherrie begins to crumble under the extreme pressure--she's thinkin', "This isn't what the Recruiter promised! He promised noone would quiz me about my personal stuff!!"

"AND MARINE! WHAT IS THIS IN YOUR DUFFLE BAG??"

Before recruit Sherrie has a chance to answer her favorite Sargeant Major---someone else tries to help the esculating dilemma---Master Sargeant Blackbird senses trouble---he must pursue the flower thing--its just the Marine blood in him--he must find a way--improvise and adapt--to find out who sent . . .!

Sorry, Sherrie. After I posted my message here my dad called to say he was in town and wanted to know if he could buy my lunch. I couldn't resist an offer like that, so I met him at a Mexican resteraunt in town. I just now got back. [IMG]

Ooooops! Sorry I forgot there is to be NO humor or laughing of any kind. I don't want to do pushups for the Master Sargeant so I better change my attitude quick! How is this :( Or maybe I can just wear sunglasses so nobody can tell I am laughing.

Then I am sorry! Forgive me. My reason was not for you to be more upset. But for you to...never mind...I am sorry.

I forgot, welcome to the Baptist Board Elmo. Rsr has told us a lot about you.

And welcome to the Coffee Shop Mrs. Frogman. There can never be too many frogs around. My youngest son LOVES frogs. We even have a couple in our aquarium at the house. I think they are African Dwarf Frogs.

I have edited it all out...and I truly hope you can forgive me for my lack of consideration; and if I have disrespected to you in anyway. Please forgive me.

I am truly saddened by my actions, and I do not know what else I can do. Please accept my apology. I will get off the board for awhile and pray about this. So sorry.

BTW, what happened to WisdomSeeker? I saw blackbird's thread about her leaving the board, but I couldn't find where she said she was leaving. Did she just PM to say she was gone? She will be missed here. Hopefully she will come back soon.

I think it is referring to the story about finding what was behind the mysterious door in the Coffee Shop. Sherrie must have deleted it all.

Thank you, Rod. Wife is safely in Florida, resting and enjoying the granddaughters. I had a nice trip and lovely weather for the drive. Also, stopped off in Watertown and had a visit with an old friend. It is always nice to meeting with people you often only see in words typed into these frames.

Soon I will be working on the devotional, but I need to rest my eyes for a bit. I would give anything for 21 year old eyes in this 76 year old frame......lol

    Cheers,

    Jim

Do I remember you saying earlier that your wife was bringing the granddaughters back with her when she returns? That will be good to get to spend some time with them. How long will they stay with you?

I hope Sherrie isn't too upset. It gets kind of quiet in the ol' Coffee Shop when she isn't here to join in on the conversations.
