Rod, you realize if we put Gym in an orange-and-black robe he'll also be in the colors of a School That Cannot Be Mentioned.

Sherrie, we've got lots of stories left. I'm waiting for Blackbird to weigh in; I'm afraid he's headed off to "Gomer Pyle."

In the meantime, we could have important messages from our sponsors ...

rsr, I realized as I was posting the colors that they might be confused with a certain team from Stillwater. Luckily Jim (Gym) lives in an area where very few people would think of that Aggie school. I would never wish that humiliation on anyone (of being associated with the Aggie team). [IMG]

Sherrie, stories seem to start, stop, and then start up again on this thread, sometimes seperated by weeks. I would add to the story, but I am just not very creative.

COMING THIS FALL FROM BASSVISION PRODUCTIONS:

    He's big. He's bad. He's Baptist.

And he wears a desert camouflage clerical robe.

"LISTEN UP, you sorry excuses for United States Marines, which you ain't ever gonna be unless you clean out your ears and pay attention. YEAH, I mean you, the one with the pretty, pretty flower in your hair."

By day, he's a nail-spitting, fire-spouting workhouse intent on turning the dregs of American culture into Marines.

    But at night ...

"Gospel Gunny, let me help you into your robe. Services are in 10 minutes, and I know you never, ever preach without your robe and leatherneck collar."

"Thank you, brother. It is so kind of you to assist me. Why do you spend so much time in my inflatable chapel?"

    "Well, gunny, you volunteered me."

What happens when a bold band of deacons tangles with Gospel Gunny? The same thing as happens when a hapless shavetail makes the mistake of thinking he's running this outfit.

    Laugh. Cry. Be very afraid.

Gospel Gunny. Coming this fall to the BB Network, right after The Adventures of Blackbird.

Sherrie, Rod is right. Stories fade, then resurrect. BRRR: The Sequel still has life in it.

Shouldn't we feel sorry for folks who drop by for a glass of raspberry lemonade ice tea and think they've fallen off the end of the earth? The regulars take it in stride, but surely it is unnerving to visitors.

Have you ever had one of them weeks where nothin' goes right?? But yet that's part of the suspense and you don't mind the drama unfoldin' "right before your eyes?"

On Monday(Memorial Day) I and my wife load up the kids and we're headin' to a church member's cow pasture--got a good fish pond there! We've got lawn chairs, tackle box(concentrate on this one)--my own personal tackle box filled with artificial baits---cranks, spinners, spoons, artificial worms of all colors and variety, top water, deep divers, poppers--the works!! Enough to make Bill Dance swell up with envy!!

We have a box full of live worms and some Niblet corn(a real family secret I revealed to Sue--Sweet Sixteen) that we were gonna let the kids fish with---the good part is--the kids catch on to "baitin'" their own hook really fast--but haven't had the "hankerin'" to take the fish off once they've caught it--that's the part where I come in---which doesn't have much to do with the story.

After an hour the kids decide they've had enough and don't want to fish anymore. They haven't nagged me to go home yet so I tell my wife--"I'm gonna hook up a spinner bait to my reel and rod and walk around the other side of this here pond and see what I can catch---so I walk and cast, walk and cast--keepin' a "leary eye" out for those Moccasins who love to "crawl and bite", "crawl and bite"--anyway, I'm on the other side of the pond now--a good 75 yards away from the family--and it starts rainin'--of all things, when you're fishin'--its got to start rainin'.

So I see my wife--hurryin' to get the lawn chairs back to the truck--my tackle box is over there by the lawn chairs--the kids are actin' like they're gonna melt--so I start makin' my way back to the truck myself---walkin' and castin', walkin' and castin'--keepin' a leary eye out for the Moccasin's who are crawlin' and bitin'!

By the time I get to the truck they're waitin' their like a family of Cajuns at the Houma, Louisiana Wal-Mart parkin' lot while momma is inside gettin' a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk--you've seen um--they're out there waitin' in the hot car--the windows rolled down--playin' the radio loud---cold drink cups all over--paper napkins layin' sprawled all over the dashboard---you've seen um! While they're waitin' on their wife inside--"Don't forget my carton of cigarettes! Winston this time!"---comes the order being barked out by hubby as the wife is gettin' out of the truck!!

Anyway, back to the story! They're in the truck! Its rainin'! And I'm thinkin'--since the wife has packed up the lawn chairs and fishin' poles--she's got my tackle box, too! So I jump in the truck without askin' or checkin'--we get home and I still don't ask "What about that tackle box?"

Now, that was Monday! Yesterday the wife decides she's goin' to Wal-Mart and so I say, "Me and the boy will stay here--we'll sneek off and do a little "bass" fishin' while ya'll go to town!"

So I start lookin' for the tackle box--nowhere to be found--its not in the back of the truck! So I ask her, "You pack up my tackle box when we were over fishin' Monday??" "No, I thought you were gonna get it!!"

Horror of all horrors! The tackle box got left over at that cow pond! "Oh, Lord! Oh, Father!" I make a bee line over to the cow pond to get it--I needed it to fish over at another pond that has good bass in it--can't fish there till I get that tackle box!! When I arrive its too late!! The cows had already been walkin' around that pond--and one of um--(they'll never tell who--just like those flowers) stomped all over that prized tackle box with all of those "Bill Dance" lookalike lures in it---crushed the whole cotton pickin' box---

Now, as if that didn't really set me off--now my garden tiller won't start--I can't get it started--and the Johnson grass, Nutt grass, and Morning Glory's are invadin' the pea patch--what do I do?

    Havin' one of those weeks!

    Good Morning All!

Not much new here. We survived another tornado last night. The sirens blared for about 30 minutes and we had really high winds but the brunt of the storm missed us. Whew! PTL!

Here I am Sherrie! I am stuck behind a wall that caved in when the cave blew up. Who lit that match anyway?!? Right before the wall caved in someone took my cell phone. If you find out who it was, you will know who lit the match!

Meanwhile, I am stuck in here with this 'stink bait' smell and not very much air. I did, however, find a whole stockpile of doughnuts! They kinda taste like fuel, but I have been surviving on them and some stored Imu Brew.

    GOSPEL GUNNY HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure have Blackbird! Last week was not good for me either! My computer went down and had to be taken to the shop to be fixed.

Memorial Day, hubby burnt up the brand new chain saw (second time using it).

I will let you borrow my garden tiller if you will let me borrow your chain saw. Deal?????

Good Morning! I got a small electric Chain Saw. Don't know why we do? I think I bought it for 5.00 at a yard sale. I did cut down some trees with it tho. It worked.

My tiller runs. But now you got to tie a piece of rope around it to pull it, cause that one piece broke off, and I am no mechanic. But you all are welcome to use either.

I got some spinner baits you can use blackbird. Chartreuse (not sure of that spelling...the color of the spinnerbait green-yellow) But just get in the truck and run to Walmart and buy you a couple more. I also like white. If the water is dirty use white..if it is clear use a darker spinner. Make it do the ballet in the water. If you can't dance it...don't prance it!

I used a rat, and a frog one time (artificial), suppose to make them stay on top of the water. After much practice I got sort of half good. It was a major work out. I do not recommend it. Never caught anything with them either.

When the kids were little, I would put corn on there hooks( secret corn recipe...rest assure garlic was in the picture) sometimes and those sunfish, and blue gill would just devour it. I was forever helping them. Now that was a workout!

Good morning to all. I have never had a bad week; honest! When things are going wrong, according to my plans, I change plans, so that everything goes the way I planned. There is always a plan.

Hey, the best way to fish for catfish is with pantyhose. Yes, pantyhose. Fill the pantyhose with all sorts of scrap meats, fats and the such. Tie a rope to the top and submerge. Leave them in the water overnight. Next day there will be oodles of catfish biting the pantyhose and for some reason, they won't let go.

I was such an avid fisherman before my strokes, I earned the nick "Pickerel Jim". The spot at the end of the bridge was designated by everyone as mine. About a month after my first stroke, I decided I could cast out using my left hand. So, off I went, fished lure to line and got set to cast out. It was awkward. I couldn't quite get the hang of lefthanded casting. I decided to try both hands. The backswing was beautiful. Then came the forward thrust and swoooooooosh,,,,,there it goes,,,,,,rod, line, lure, the whole lot into the river. That ended my fishing career. Now I can only watch. Since another stroke took my left hand as well, I have never even thought of casting with my feet.

Gas motors! My equipment works perfectly. One problem, I haven't the strength to pull the rope to get anything started. Must call daughter to start things for me. Electric chain saw might be fine, but I can't find any outlets in the woods!

Cheers to all. Be back later.

    Pickerel Jim, Ret'd

    Hi Jim!

My late husband had some of the same problems you have. He had three strokes. He had to learn how to walk all over, all three times. He would get so fusterated. But he did not give up. I got him that silly puddy...and we would practice squeezing it all the time. It helped a lot...but he never got all his strength back, but the dr.'s were amazed at how much he did get back. He would also go on walks to help with strength there too.

God is good Jim! God is Good. I am so glad I got to meet you, and you are a blessing everyday to me and this board! You give such wonderful devotions...and you are quit the Jokester!

Now...enough of that mushy friend stuff...

....Eating fish is good too! mmmmmmmmmmmm....

Well going on my morning walk a mile! if you have the cell phone number call it! If you don't...well....I guess ask me....bye....

Jeanne and I are here Sherrie.

I think this is the first time I've been on the BB in a week  .

Life is kinda busy thats all. Jeanne's health took a little backslide, but she is doing OK. Right now she is still off work til at least June 15 and she was supposed to go on vacation starting the 16th so even if the Dr. releases her she won't be back til the end of June. Man I wish I could get three months off with pay, of course I would't want to be sick like her.

Next week will be busy because we have our annual Camp Meeting at church Mon - Thur. We will hear alot of good preachin and singin all week long.

I do have to say I'm looking foward to Gospel Gunny when it premiers.

    Bill

Good to hear from you Bill. Sorry that your wife is experiencing tough times just now. Everything comes along in the end. With the Apostle Paul we say, "When I am weak, then am I strong." We don't always appreciate those words at the time, but trust me, they do ring true. We gain new strengths in the Lord.

Sounds like you are going to have a busy time of it, but at least in the right direction. It is a great delight to sit under the word. That is the one thing I enjoy about retirement; listening to the word expounded by others, great or small.

Now to have the others report in with good news.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Hey! I am back! Good walk! Ran into a friend of mine who walks 3 miles, and runs 6. Whew! Thats more than I want to do. We all walk at our park. 2 laps is one mile. I am glad the City put that walking track in the park. We cannot ride bikes or roller skate on it. I wish we could roller skate. I would give it a shot. I use to be really good on skates. Now I have never roller bladed. That does not look fun!

Bill...I am just so sorry to hear Jeanne has been ill. I will be praying for her. I am really glad tho to hear from you. Wish I knew she took a turn for the worse. Let her know I have asked about her.

And I heard from followinghim...she is kind of busy right now.

Now for those other rascally Coffee Shop patrons! Wonder where they are, or what there are up to!

    I'm here!

How are you all? We have cool weather and rain off and on all day. I am going to watch #4 grandson play baseball later (he's 7 and smarter than me).

Sherrie, I'm glad you like your mug. A special cup for a special lady.

Everyone have a blessed, joyful day.
