"The Coffee Shop"

I really think I like Tamworth, Jim. You will have to tell us more things about it.

Do you sit and debate there? Isn't that funny you said everyone brings their own cup. True coffee drinkers do have their own cup. I have my favorite that I use. I hope it never breaks. No one ever uses it. They know its mine.

Ok...truth...I am on the Folgers instant decaf. Trying to ween myself of the continuous drinking of coffee. As long as the pot is on...I will drink it. So I bought a tea pot...and I boil enough water for my one cup. It has been doing such a sucessful job. I have really been doing good.

I will work on the cokes next. But there is nothing like a good Coke burn and belch...Sorry....that wasn't very ladylike, was it.

Instead of Branson, I think we ought to all just mosey on down to Louisiana and sit on the front row of Blackbird's church one Sunday. I bet he'd get to hollerin and preachin and look down and recognize us!

We could all wear coverall's and straw hats!

I love Brother Blackbird! His sense of humor just makes my day!

Laurenda, don't know what he looks like but I'm sure he's got a great smile! Probably got black hair like a crow.

Sister Diane--I grew up in Baton Rouge--transplanted to Mississippi--married into an Alabama family in which one day I hope to live--

But just ya'll get a trip up--I'll be lookin' for ya!!

I emailed my friend who had surgery to remove the cancerous tumor from his lung and one of his kidneys to see how he was doing. Here was his reply:
Rod,

The prognosis is better than we could have ever asked for. The Drs. were so happy with the sugeries' outcome that they have opted to forego chemo and radiation therapy for the time being...YEEHAH. Although their optimism was guarded, my elation was not. Afterward, I had to step across the hall for a baseline chest X-Ray and the technician found me on my knees, thanking God for his blessings.

I have no doubt that prayer had more to do with this outcome than anything else and I am chomping at the bit for football to start.

Take Care...and Boomer Sooner
I am so thankful that the Lord still answers prayers.

YEAH!!! I made it to 500 posts! I guess now I am an "Active Member" and not just a plain "Member".

Just thought I would use this "milestone" post to let everyone on this thread know how much I appreciate them. With all of the anger and frustration found in other threads on this board recently, it is good to have a place of refuge where everyone is friendly and helpful. Everyone here is like a big family spread across the country. Thank you for the love and kindness everyone here has shown over the last few months that I have been here.

Blackbird and Rod and all...turns out I won't have to worry about going to dinner. He was engaged to an old friend of mine. I found out walking this late morning...when I ran into her...and she told me who she was engaged to. Yes, I was mad. Let the temper come out. We were walking and I just kept going. The more I walked the more I stewed. The faster I got, the more I left her behind. I got in my car and left the park. I did not tell her, but I really wanted to. I will save it for telling him what a jerk he is.

So now, its settled, no worries. I wasn't suppose to go to dinner.

Boomer Sooner back to you!!!!

Sherrie, I have just about given up coffee. I have a cup of decaf occasionally. Gave up regular coffee about 11 years ago and I gave up cokes for a while. But now, I have to have that regular coca cola. I need to cut down on the number a day. So when I visit the coffee shop, I will have a coke, please. :D

I just noticed that most of you were up nearly all night :( And you all are still posting during the day. I can't do that any more.

Now, I know you guys are not interested, but I took a chance today and colored my own hair. I had never, never even tried that before, but it seemed that I couldn't get the color I wanted at the beauty shop. So I did it myself and I LIKE it. It was so easy and to think of how much money I have been spending

Now, you guys, don't start a thread on being vain and coloring hair, OK? Our pastor's wife does it and she is the one that told me how much younger I would look if I would just get rid of the grey hair. I really don't have much grey hair, but I am sure I look at least 10 years younger

I can't cut my own hair like Sherrie did. By the way Sherrie how long does it take to grow your hair that long?

Sorry to hear that Sherrie. :( I am glad you found out now and not AFTER you went out with him. That doesn't mean there isn't someone out there for you, it just wasn't him. Is he a member of your church??? (Sorry, I know I shouldn't gossip.)

I think that is allowed since it isn't referring to another board member. ;) It definately is a accurate decription given what he was trying to do.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

The doctor didn't find anything, which is both good and bad. He didn't find Crohn's, but he still thinks it is in her small intistine farther up than he could see with the test last week. The next step is probably having her take the test where she would swallow the pill sized camera and see if it shows anything. The test can now be done in Tulsa, last year he told us we would have to go to Dallas.

She doesn't feel good right now. Hopefully she will feel a little better this weekend. Thanks for asking.

First things first:

1. Rod, That is very good news about your friend, but then, what chance did the cancer stand when so many people were lifting him up? *edited to add last read* Rod, here's praying for your dear wife and may all go well with her and give her peace and comfort during this trying time. God bless, mate.

2. Sherrie, Good to learn this things in advance. Now you can seriously look at other avenues. All the very best.

3. Betty, There is nothing wrong with making ourselves feel better..even if takes a little shade......wonder how I would look in red?

4. RSR. Yes, just 20 miles north of Napanee and Good Year is even closer. We have a lot of people who work at Good Year. Also, Good Year has been a very good citizen in the area. One person from Tamworth has been to all the plants in the USA working in the front offices of Good Year...I believe she is back in Napanee now.....I am not sure.

5. Blackbird, Now, now, a Geneva gown, in black, would look sharp on you and you could spread your wings with it on. I even have a few spare collars and shirts you could borrow....size 16 1/2 neck, ok? Sorry, but all my shirts are short sleeved and grayish in colour.

6. Got a letter from Jon to-day. It was refreshing to hear from him, and I do wish him well. I couldn't reply because his mail box was full.

7. Have I forgotten anyone? Please forgive me if I did. It is certainly not intentional.

Cheers,

Jim

Betty and all...YEP! And the thing is...I have not seen that girl in almost 10 years and she was walking in the park too! I guess that JERK did not think we would walk into each other and know each other.

For Goodness sake......This is Dexter Man! We know everyone!

So anyways...I am over being mad...now I count it as a blessing...I found out in advance! He is not a member of our church...but he attends plenty. And if he is there Sunday when we shake hands...I am going to say...Oh Mike...I ran into Chrissy and she said you were getting married. Congratulations you Pig of a Jerk! Smile and move on.

Rod: Great news about your friends. Another BOOMER SOONER is in order.

Sherrie: Well, it looks like you need the board to vet the candidates before you get interested. We can't have this happening again; at least there was no serious harm done.

Betty: Jerk is entirely appropriate. He ain't here, he ain't got a vote. So there.

Diane: Surely you know how a Baptist preacher's radar goes off when someone volunteers to sit on the front row. It's a dead giveaway that something is afoot, and usually something to be feared. I do like the overalls, though.

Blackbird: Just remember this thread when somebody comes and sits on the front row. You just never know who might be out there and what they're up to ...

Jim: I think Blackbird would look smashing in black Geneva, and he can wear his overalls underneath to keep from becoming spiritually exalted in his vestments.

Goodyear has been good to us too; the Napanee plant is the only one newer than ours, and the one here is undergoing a 500,000-square-foot modernization and expansion.

The Napanee plant, in fact, is run on the same management principles that were pioneered here.

Betty, You read the Woman over 40 thread didn't you?

Sherrie, what a blessing that God let you find that out before you went out with him and really had something to feel bad about. Well, just be glad you still got it girlfriend...now that you're open to dating, the right guy will probably find his way to you. We can still pray for that to happen right?

I like walking when I'm mad...it's the best thing to clear my head. Better than throwing things. It's all good, no repercusions.

Curious about what people look like who don't have their pictures up. I always have a picture of what people look like in my head, and sometimes I'm very surprised at what they really look like, and some times they look exactly like what I thought they would. Now I'm curious about what RSR looks like too. Especially because I had insomnia last night and was up posting in the wee hours, when people aren't here. It was nice to talk to him at that hour.

I hope I get over this insomnia soon, It's giving me a really bad headache and my vision is a little blurry. It's not just that I can't fall asleep, I can't stay asleep either. I'm getting about 4 hours, and less than 7 makes me feel hungover.
