The Coming of The Son of Man

From a futurist point of view :

Matthew 24
37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Luke 17
26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

What is so wrong with eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, planting and building?

Or is it perhaps a prophetic clue from Jesus related to the “Signs of the Times”?

Apart from prioritization nothing

1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Luke 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

I'm not sure that the main topic here is luxury. I think that our Lord is teaching about the suddenness of His second coming. People will be just going about their business and, suddenly, He's coming. I think that interpretation works with v.24 quite well, and also with the 'thief in the night' passages (Matthew 24:36-44; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3; 2 Peter 3:10; Revelation 3:3; 16:15).

Yes - I had thought that at first and agree - A state of complete unawareness or care - "and they knew not".

Then I also thought of the prediction of famine and pestilence as well - are they concurrent?

We have both, affluence in the West, war, poverty, famine, pestilence in the East and Third World.

e.g. Cholera and famine in Yemen due to the war with Saudi Arabia.

Noteworthy that Jesus compared His coming to the conditions of the Days of Noah and the Days of Lot (Sodom and Gomorrah).

Noah : Violence and corruption: Genesis 6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
Lot :Wickedness : Genesis 19:5-8.

However - God saved a remnant out of the judgement.

Yes interesting but clearly flawed (IMO).

"If you truly believe that you are being saved by God's Grace from eternal torment in Hell you will want to follow Him with all your heart right then".

It is not because I am saved from eternal torment in Hell that I want to follow Him but because of His love.

1 John 4
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
19 We love him, because he first loved us.

Just make sure friend, the hour is late.

Well. isn't Gay and lesbianism trying to re define what traditional sexuality is to be seen as being now? Modern day Sodom?

Yes and it is the Law of the Land.

Same-sex marriage in the United States expanded from one state in 2004 to all fifty states in 2015 through various state court rulings, state legislation, direct popular votes, and federal court rulings. Same-sex marriage is also referred to as gay marriage, while the political status in which the marriages of same-sex couples and the marriages of opposite-sex couples are recognized as equal by the law is referred to as marriage equality. The fifty states each have separate marriage laws, which must adhere to rulings by the Supreme Court of the United States that recognize marriage as a fundamental right that is guaranteed by both the Due Process Clause and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, as first established in the 1967 landmark civil rights case of Loving v. Virginia.

Are you suggesting that cell phone radiation is what killed Lot's wife and turned her to a pillar of stone... cause I've seen this with my kids. ;)

Possibly. Though world wide connection to any other person or persons on earth another possibility of the desires of the antichrist. Group worship?

Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Another what-if

What if this scripture is prophetic of the incredible epitome of travel (running to and fro) and instantaneous communications (knowledge shall be increased) which shall exist at “the Time of the End” as a result of the 19th - 21st century Industrial Revolution

Note: Travel of thousands of miles at the time of this writing (Daniel 12) took several months of hardship over land and perhaps sea now takes a few hours of comfort (relatively speaking) at 30,000 feet at almost the speed of sound.

Since communications depended upon this ability to travel the same was true of communications.
Added fiat - Which now (Audio and Video) happens instantaneously at the speed of light.

It is simply that the return of Christ will be a sudden, unexpected event. people will be going about their lives exactly as they do in Britain today, without the least thought of God, and boom! Game over. 'For you yourself know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them......... and they will not escape.'

I would think the prevailing conditions at the time of Noah and the time of Sodom and Gomorrah would be prevalent as well.

In fact the general conditions of both these historic times are here today.
