How about abortion?

Joseph, talk about denial. I bet if you took a poll, most people here will say that you are very angry in a vast majority of your posts. But, I guess denial is your thing.

So why exactly does someone want the NV party to split off or not split off?
The Constitution Party platform says, "We affirm the God-given legal personhood of all unborn human beings, without exception. As to matters of rape and incest, it is unconscionable to take the life of an innocent child for the crimes of his father."

The Nevada state chairman of the AIP, the CP affiliate, has said publicly that he agrees with the position of the Mormon church over the CP platform and would allow exceptions for rape, incest, the health of the mother or fetal deformities. There are other members of the Nevada state party leadership, including the state chairman's big sister, who was very vocal at the meeting in Tampa, who also hold this view.

The vote in Tampa was whether or not to disaffiliate with the Nevada party. Those who are 100% pro-life voted "yes", the majority voted "no". So it appears the majority of the Constitution Party National Committee holds the same view as the GOP on the abortion issue.

I was at the banquet in Tampa and heard both the NV state chairman's sister and Jim Gilchrist speak, it appears the CP party leadership made this decision in an attempt to increase their voter base and attract more voters who may not be as "extreme" 100% on the abortion issue. In an effort not to lose the NV and CA AIP parties, it appears they are driving off many of their states that are 100% pro-life.

My guess is that they would argue it is none of the government's business, as they do with almost everything.

Women's Rights and Abortion

The Issue: Recognizing that abortion is a very sensitive issue and that people, including libertarians, can hold good-faith views on both sides, we believe the government should be kept out of the question. We condemn state-funded and state-mandated abortions. It is particularly harsh to force someone who believes that abortion is murder to pay for another's abortion.

The Principle: We hold that individual rights should not be denied or abridged on the basis of sex. It is the right and obligation of the pregnant woman, not the state, to decide the desirability or appropriateness of prenatal testing, Caesarean births, fetal surgery, voluntary surrogacy arrangements and/or home births.

Solutions: We oppose all laws likely to impose restrictions on free choice and private property or to widen tyranny through reverse discrimination.

Transitional Action: We call for repeal of all laws discriminating against women, such as protective labor laws and marriage or divorce laws which deny the full rights of men and women.

There is a sizable number of we libertarians who are staunchly pro-life:

The Libertarian Case Against Abortion

To explain and defend our case, LFL argues that:

1. Human offspring are human beings, persons from fertilization.

2. Abortion is homicide -- the killing of one person by another.

3. There is never a right to kill an innocent person. Prenatally, we are all innocent persons.

4. A prenatal child has the right to be in the mother's body. Parents have no right to evict their children from the crib or from the womb and let them die. Instead both parents, the father as well as the mother, owe them support and protection from harm.

5. No government, nor any individual, has a just power to legally depersonify any one of us, born or preborn.

6. The proper purpose of the law is to side with the innocent, not against them.

</font>[/QUOTE]The L4L posistion is clear and I agree entirely with that stance. However this Solution for the Abortion issue from the LP I find a HUGE problem with. It is not a Choice it is legalized slaughter of innocent children.

But thank you for posting links Ken. The L4L is a step in the right direction. Now if they can only make that a part of the national party platform.
