Roman Catholic had bothered quite a lot with Donatists in Northern Africa as they were like Baptists today and their believers were so many that they overwhelmed RCC in North Africa, and RCC had the cherished dream to move their head quarters from
Rome to Jerusalem.
Therefore Vatican wanted to create another Branch or Division of Babylonian Religion in the Middle East and was seeking a competent and young man to implement this mission, who was to be chosen by a Catholic widow, Khadija.
Kjadija was a rich, devout Catholic. She hired Muhammad as a shopkeeper and later both married together. She was 41 year old and Muhammad was 25 year old. Most of the Bible knowledge of Muhammad's was obtained from Khadija, I believe.
Later on, when Islam was expanded in North Africa, Donatists were eradicated by the Islamic brutal killings as RCC wished, but Jerusalem wasn't returned to RCC, different from their expectations. Therefore RCC waged the war with Islam thru the Crusade.
However, except the short occupation during the Crusade, Jerusalem couldn't be taken over by RCC.
Therefore Vatican has been eager to take over the Temple Mount all the time.
The attempts are still going on thru the Oslo Agreement I and II, and Vatican made the treaty on June 26, 2015 so that
Vatican recognized Palestine as a state, in turn, PLO conceded Temple Mount to Vatican free of charge, and Vatican promised
they will pressure Israel thru the Catholic countries and EU so that they may make Jerusalem as an international city.
Then Vatican will take over the Temple Mount so that the Pope may sit and stand there as the Vicar of God ( 2 Thess 2:4-6, Matthew 24:15)
The cherished desire of Vatican to move their HQ to Jerusalem will be accomplished but the Anti-Christ will be struck and thrown into the Lake of Fire as we read Rev 19:20
We are living in a dramatic era.
