The Death of Timothy

Really? You have knowledge as to whether I am out witnessing to the lost? Please provide all of us on this board this evidence you have to prove I am not out witnessing to the lost.

You could clear it up yourself and state that you are.

Street evangelism is tough, and few do it. Even fewer are open air preachers.

All I am seeing is criticism of his ministry, and as I have said before...I simply do not understand it.

So do you do what he does? When is the last time you went to a secular event and passed out tracts?

God bless.

I had one conversation with a Christian Science cultist who was very confused on what her church taught. I mean she attends a Christian Science reading room, yet thinks of herself as a legit Christian church and unaware of the teachings in the church.

My approach for most is simply to center conversation on salvation itself. And I have a strong emphasis on new birth, which filters through to most "faiths," cults, and "isms." If we try to debate their doctrine, rather than the Doctrine of the Bible, we lose common ground (because most think their faith aligns with the Bible).

Not the person the question is directed toward but Matt 6 comes to mind ever time a thread like this is started.

I asked her how to get saved and she gave a good response. However the flag went up when she mentioned what church she went too. However good response brother.

And to assume that someone is seeking vainglory shouldn't be the case.

And when someone receives ridicule, it's puts them on the defensive, and this can hinder the edification process we should all be concerned with.

As I said, shocking behavior among the Body.

The world is looking on, folks. Let's not give them reason to doubt the power of God unto salvation.

That's one reason I often being up regeneration, as it is a topic which most have some kind of teaching on.

It's familiar terminology, but the views are vastly different, even among groups we might consider fairly orthodox (with a few issues, lol).

Bye the way if you say you are often out doing this, then I offer my apology for stating a falsehood as if it were fact. But if you make some excuse for not being out witnessing or try and argue with me about the ineffectiveness of street evangelism, then my point remains.

Well first what I am doing is irrelevant to whether street preaching is effective.

Second, I am out in the community, on purpose, looking for who and can build relationships with and share the gospel. I make no excuses for I have no need too. I am directly involved in people's lives. I talk to them not preach at them. I do not use tracts I use my Bible. I do not speak to them from a distance, I create conversations with them intimately. Then I complete the Great Commission and disciple them.

How many people have you spent time discipling lately. I currently have a young man who is coming out of a drug abuse history who I meet with weekly. Who are you meeting with regularly to disciple rather than hound and just tell them their theology is wrong.

The people I talk to I get to know personally and they get to know me. When I speak to them they know I care.

By the way speaking in a public format was the accepted place of discourse and debate back then. That is why it was done that way. today it is not. Trying to mimic the culture of their day in a time when it no longer fits or is relevant is like an elevator in an outhouse. Doesn't belong.

So referencing the Bible is shocking behavior in your mind. That's good to know. I find it more shocking how little Bible is referenced but that is the difference between us.

Hey I speak to people and not once said I do not. This I do in one on one witnessing. I also use my Bible in these cases. But the difference between us is that I do this as well as pass out tracts and open air so I reach more people.

Aren't you a Calvinist? How can Timothy have persuaded anyone? That would require a decision on the part of the new believer
.

RM has missed it again....clueless ....require a decision? God has already made the decision.
9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.

Awaiting an answer:

Timothy died as a open air preacher trying to stop people from attending a pagan festival. Yes I read this in a book

You read this in a book?
What exactly did this book say?

Remember to:

"Please cite page numbers and the name of the book."

"Get your quotes from first hand sources not second hand."
