The Death Penalty & the Boston Bomber ... Yea or Nay?

Sure this is an old topic. And it won't be the first time it's been discussed and debated on the board. But this time, the issue is no longer hypothetical. The act of terror that killed so many people that day and left hundreds scarred for life is real. So how does that weigh in on your opinion regarding the death penalty.

Is it right for this case, or should he have been given a life sentence?

My view is simple ... had he lived ina Muslim nation, he'd have lost his head by know. In North Korea, he'd been killed by a firing squad of anti-aircraft guns. I have no objections to the sentence, because he can live to a ripe old age exhausting his appeals.

So let's here your thoughts? Especially if they changed because of what he had done in this horrendous act of terrorism.

Not so sure they would have gotten the death penalty if they lived in a Muslim Nation. More likely...a medal or commendation of some sort.

I think the principles set forth in the Law still apply, in that the intentional taking of a life deserves death. While we are not under the Covenant of Law, we do not eradicate the foundational principles of God's Word.

Are you willing and able to pay for this kind of sentence? We pay between $30,000 and 60,000 a year, depending upon which state you live in, to house a convict for one year! So, I'd like an answer from you, CTB, are you willing to take on the yearly cost of housing him in supermax, which I am sure costs a wee bit more?

Plus, those in prison for life do stand a chance to have their terms reduced, the longer they are in prison, based on the liberalization of this country. The Boston bomber could one day be let out to bomb again! Would you want him living next to your retirement home 20 years from now? :type:

Christ did die for him. As near as I can tell, he has scorned that gift. I'll admit, I don't love the guy. I should, but I don't. But God does.



I do pray for his salvation, while understanding that death penalty is just, and hope that it is carried out swiftly. If God sees fit to give him a chance to repent before death, He can do it in five years, five days, or five minutes. God's not on our timeline.
