THE DEATH.
Physical death is a such event that shatters life of everyone and people around who became in contact with that phenomena.
Usually people assume that the physical death is the end of life, not necessary so, it is the end only of the physical existence, but the life continues in the spiritual form and the character and personality of the dead is still preserved in its spiritual form and continue living.
The Bible has a couple of good examples of it.
1Samuel 28.13-14
13.And the king said to her, "Do not be afraid, but what do you see?" And the woman said to Saul, "I see a divine being coming up out of the earth."
14.And he said to her, "What is his form?" An old man is coming up, and he is wrapped with a robe." And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and did homage.
Appearances of Jesus Christ in human physical form after His resurrection (Matthew 28.1-10.16-20) (Mark 16.9-14) (Luke 24.1-8.15-20.25-27.30-31.36-43.50-51) (John 20.11-17.19-20.26) (Acts 1.3, 22.6-11, 27.23-24).
As the punishment of disobedience of Adam and Eve death became our natural way to exit our physical existence, but our self-being will still exist in the spiritual form, because our souls - the living energy of GOD planted in us by breath of GOD through Adam, will continue living.
But there is another death, much more serious and horrific than physical death, that is spiritual death, also called as the Second Death.
Revelation 2.11
The message of the Lord to the church in Smyrna.
11."Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches. Whoever conquers will not be harmed by the Second Death."
Revelation 20.5-6.14
5.The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the First Resurrection.
6.Blessed and holy are those who share in the First Resurrection. Over these the Second Death has no power, but they will be priests of GOD and of Christ (Revelation 1.6, 5.10, 20.6), and they will reign with Him a thousand years.
14.And death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire (Isaiah 25.8). This is the Second Death, the lake of fire.
Second Death means complete termination of spiritual life. It may be described as erasing of the soul out of its existence, which is will be final and irreversible non-existence state.
Just like fire consume its fuel and then extinguished for the lack of material to burn, probably in the same principal the lake of fire will consume death and Hades (the World of Dead also sometimes called as Hell) and these two entities will perish forever.
Matthew 10.28
28."Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul, rather fear *Him (KSB) (Gideons) who can destroy both, soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10.28) (Luke 12.5).
*Him. In this KSB Bible this word starts from a capital letter indicating GOD. In NRSV it starts from a small letter not indicating GOD, but may indicate Devil, the same written in the Russian Bible. In GNB Bible instead of "Him" or "him" a word "GOD" is written.
KJV, ESV - him.
NIV - the One.
This complete purge of death perhaps will be done to reestablish eternal life on Earth as it was before the Adam and Eve ate forbidden fruit.
Isaiah 25.8
8.He will swallow up death for all time (Revelation 20.14, 21.4) (1Corinthians 15.54), and the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces (Revelation 7.17, 21.4), and He will remove the reproach of His people from all the Earth, the Lord has spoken (Hosea 13.14) (Isaiah 26.19).
Luke 20.38
38."Now, He is not the GOD of the dead, but of the living, for, all live to Him."
