The Church kingdom being brought forth by Christ was oppressed by the Pharisees, Sadducees, lawyers, scribes and any basing their righteousness on the law. Matt 11:12 says from the time of John the Baptist until now the kingdom sufferth violence and the violent (see above) take it by force. Those represent the nations that warred against the kingdom of God. These "nations" that tried to hinder the brethren from entering into the New Covenant church nation (See Lu 11:52 and 1 Peter 2:9) were like unto the Amalekites that tried to prevent Israel from entering into the Promised Land given to her by God. Because of this, God used the Romans to destroy those Jews in 70 AD.
The child placing of the hand on the mouth of the den of the viper shows Christ destroying the doctrines of the same as he calls those nations in the context of Pharisees, Saducees, etc a generation of Vipers. Mt 12:34. John the Baptist does the same in Mt 3:7. Those Jews had used the law to condemn and bring forth death in their erronous interpretation. When they tried to catch Christ in an error he destroyed their teachings in his defense of the kingdom and his righteousness. Mt 22:46 says, "And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him anymore questioins." Since they would not submit themselves to his righteousness he totally annihilated them. He ground his enemies justifications and trick questions as small as the dust. Their poisonous doctrines had no effect on him as he came to fulfill the law and in the process bind the strongman that used the law to accuse and condemn the brethren
And the whole time I thought God used the Romans to destroy the temple not leaving one stone upon another, because Israel rejected the One and Only Sacrifice. I thought God was leaving them no way to mock Him through false sacrifices and sent them on down the road.
