Here are my notes from Sunday night.....

GRAB YOUR BIBLES James 1:14-17

Tonight’s message is going to be about.....the details of temptation and sin!
As can only be explained........by God’s Word!

LETS READ THE TEXT James 1:14-17
=======================
=======================
V.14A “But every man is tempted,”
-TEMPTATION.......IS INEVITABLE-
(So prepare yourself for it
--------------------------------------------------
Temptation....is a part of our life:
So we should learn all we can about it!
=======================
V.14B “when he is drawn away”
-THE FIRST STEP.....OF TEMPTATION-
(Being drawn away from the LORD
--------------------------------------------------
Recognize...that anything that draws us away:
Is a “temptation...to sin”!
=======================
V.14C “of his own lust,”
-THE PART OF US.....WE HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT-
(Our flesh
--------------------------------------------------
Therefore we must......work:
To bring our body under subjection!
=======================
V.14D “and enticed.”
-SATAN’S PART...THAT WE HAVE TO BE LOOKING OUT FOR-
(His enticements
That he will expose to our flesh:
--------------------------------------------------
He will try.....one lure.....then another:
Trying to get us to “bite”!
Just like a fisherman...trying to catch a fish!

V.15A “Then”
-THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT......IN THIS MESSAGE-
(The fact that...temptation has a goal for us
And it wants to take us....on a long trip:
--------------------------------------------------
Down the long road.....to destruction!
=======================
V.15B “when lust hath conceived,”
-THE FIRST STEP......DOWN THE LONG ROAD OF SIN-
(Giving in to temptation
--------------------------------------------------
Note: The result of giving into our lust:
Is something.....”gets conceived”!
--------------------
And just like in the physical realm:
When something is conceived:
It has to be dealt with!
--------------------------------------------------
We always deal with sin....by “repentance”!

V.15C “it bringeth forth sin:”
-THE GUARANTEED RESULT..........OF GIVING IN TO..........TEMPTATION-
(Every time ......... "Sin":
--------------------------------------------------
This is a line....that you do not want to cross:
Therefore don’t play around....on the line!
=======================
V.15D “and sin, when it is finished,”
-THE BIG PLANS........SIN.....HAS FOR US-
(Sin.....never just sits there
--------------------------------------------------
It always wants to take us further:
Than we really want to go:
------------------------
If we let it!

Romans 7:14-22
-UNDERSTANDING WHY.......WE SIN....WHEN WE DON’T WANT TO-
(It has to do with....our changed heart
--------------------------------------------------
It all comes down to verse 22....
“For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:”
------------------------
When we are saved...our inward man hates sin:
So we can sin....with out really wanting to!

V.15E “bringeth forth death.”
-THE ULTIMATE GOAL.......OF EVERY SIN-
(Even the little ones
------------------------
They want to destroy us:
--------------------------------------------------
-PRAISE THE LORD.......FOR THE BLOOD OF JESUS-
Because of.... “Jesus’s blood”:
Sin....can’t take a Christian to hell:
------------------------
But it can still destroy our life!
See Luke 13:3

V.16 “Do not err, my beloved brethren.”
-GOD’S WARNING TO US....ABOUT TEMPTATION AND SIN-
(Be careful....and don’t “cross that line”

According to the law:
It is a real “line”....that must be crossed!

V.17A “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,”
-THE LORD’S WONDERFUL....ANSWER “TO TEMPTATION”-
(The wonderful life He has given us
Here on Earth:
--------------------------------------------------
E.G. 1 Corinthians 7:1-2
V.1 ¶ Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman.
V.2 Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

V.17B “and cometh down from the Father of lights,”
-THE LORD’S.....SHORT TERM PLANS FOR US-
(He wants to shower us with blessings
Right here and now:
--------------------------------------------------
If we let Him!
------------------------
Because we can rob ourselves of blessings:
By disobeying Him!
=======================
V.17C “with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
-THE UNIQUE QUALITY.....OF GOD’S BLESSINGS-
(They are always perfect
With no down side:

Note:This is the wonderful life God has given us:

But Satan....always tries to make them look bad!
