PJ, bread was one of my biggest enemies. Most I've had in a day since started diet is 5 slices. Sounds like a lot but nowhere near what I was having. Eating more veges and salad and similar horrible stuff :BangHead:

UltraSlim shakes have helped a lot. Also gone from real cola to "unleaded" (various diet colas).

Weighed again today, down almost another 8lb from last time. Now at just under 300lb. Down 57lb, 100 to go.

Five days ago, I started a Basic Fat Burning Diet. I weighed myself this afternoon and am glad to see the pounds are coming off. I have lost 10 pounds!

Hoping to lose at least 30 more pounds before Christmas.

Are you staying on the diet for Thanksgiving? I was trying so hard hard to be good this year, but it is very hard, especially because I was drafted to make almost all of the sweets except the sweet potato pie. Not to mention my son's birthday is Friday and MIL wants him to have a very large cake, which I have to bring home with me. :BangHead:

I finally have broken a long term stall. Planning on staying on the wagon over the holidays. (Keeping fingers crossed)

3kg (6.6lb) gone last week means grand total lost so far is now 40kg (88lb). About 8.5lb gone since last post, just over 270 mark now.

    Geez, way to go, Pete!

Looks like I'm about to hit the weight-loss trail again, but this time it has to be for good. Just go back from the dosctor's office. I have been diagnosed with asthma and sleep apnea. He wants me to lose down to the ideal weight for my height, or about 180 pounds. I am currently over 400 (I vary day to day, but from 402-409).

My wife and I talked with him about Adkins and South Beach, and he said either one is fine, that all the hubbub about them raising chlestorol was just that. So, I guess I go with one of them. Just wish we had more groceries along those lines.

Anyway, I'm not going to race you, Pete. You've got too good of a head start! But I am very proud of you, my brother.

Trotter, God bless you. That first. Now, I strongly recommend you get a book written for women, called "Curves." It has some of the most sensible diet advice I know of. It talks about how we sabotage ourselves by getting our metabolism to slow down due to dieting, and how to avoid that. The more your metabolism slows down, the less you NEED to eat to even maintain your wait and that is totally frustrating.

I have found that green tea helps speed up the metabolism. Outside work is, for me, great, too. Plenty of sleep is a must so I don't eat simply to keep up the energy. Protein in the morning.

    Highly recommend the book.

Way to go Pete. And Trotter, its definitely doable. I began my new way of eating 3 years ago, lost 100 pounds and have kept the majority of it off. (Had a small parenthesis after hurrican Katrina and gained back 20, still working towarrd getting that back off.) There is so much variety thats out there, if you get creative and if you are willing to completely change the way you think about food.

I remember looking at what I needed to lose thinking I would never see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it feels great to be able to run and play with my kids and jump on the trampoline, etc. I could go on.

Find something you can live with and start living. :)

Thanks, both of you. Until I get my breathing machine I won't feel like much of anything. Now that part of the puzzle has been solved, it all makes sense. Most of my symptoms fit right into one or both of these problems.

Once I can finally get some good REM sleep (which I don't right now, and haven't in God only knows how long) I'll have enough energy to get moving... and I ain't gonna stop. My dad is as heavy as I am, and he has severe breathing problems... I don't want to be like that. I plan on enjoying life, not enduring it.

Cool! I pray it goes well for you Trotter :praying: How have things been going your way so far?

At weigh-in today I was just under 257lb, so that's now just over 100lb down. If I can get rid of another 18.7 or so that will be a third of me gone since starting.

Breathing - better. Diet - sucks. Our budget is extremely tight right now... a fiddle string has nothing on it. No overtime for three months plus medical bills has really hurt us, so there is no extra money to buy what I need to be eating. We're doing good to buy groceries, period. Sorry, I don't mean to harp. It seems so rough right now. All the stress ain't helping much either.

I'm finally starting to get a little overtime now, though. Not much, but a little. Every little bit helps, but I feel like such a failure because of my diet (or lack thereof).

Trotter, are things any better for you?

What is it that you want to buy for your diet but cant afford? We might can help you come up with other healthy ideas for your diet. I have found that keeping certain inexpensive things around the house can make a nice healthy and legal meal or snack...such as:
    lettuce
    olives
    boiled eggs
    cheese
    canned tuna or chicken
    lunch meat

you get the idea, stuff that is probably gonna be a round the house anyway.

Just out of curiosity, how many of us are still on the wagon?
