III. The Spirit That Teaches Beyond What Is Written​

“…that ye might learn in us not to think of people above that which is written.” 1 Corinthians 4:6

IV. The Harsh Spirit Masquerading as Holiness Colossians 2:23 — Some perform severity as if it were spirituality. Harshness becomes their virtue. The Diotrephes pattern includes this show of wisdom without substance.

V. The Biting and Devouring Spirit Galatians 5:15 — The Diotrephes type does not build the body. He consumes it. He intimidates the tender and drives away the faithful.

VI. The Spirit That Draws Disciples After Itself Acts 20:30 — The Diotrephes pattern includes a desire for followers, not brothers. They gather a circle, not a church.

VII. The Spirit That Loves Preeminence 3 John 1:9 — This is the heart of the pattern: the desire to be first.
