LETS READ THE TEXT Isaiah 53:9-12

V.9A “And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death;”
-A SPECIFIC PROPHECY....ABOUT THE LORD’S DEATH-
(That needs to be looked at literally

-A LITERAL LOOK....AT THIS PROPHECY-
➀“he made his grave” Lit. (The tomb)
➁“in his death” (Between the cross & the tomb
➂“with the rich” (The rich man that buried Him
--------------------------------------------------
-WHO......COULD RIGHTFULLY BE REFERRED TO A “WICKED”?-
“his grave with the wicked”
Note: Most people point to the two thieves at the cross:
But we don’t know...if they were “wicked” or not:

But we do know....about the Sanhedrin soldiers:
Who accepted a bribe to lie:
About what they witnessed....at the tomb!

Therefor this is an accurate prophecy!

V.9B “because he had done no violence,”
-ANOTHER PART OF “SATAN PLAN”....THAT BACKFIRED-
(With all the violence used against Jesus

The Lord’s arrest and prosecution was very unusual:
In the way the Lord was mistreated:

And Satan expected Jesus to fight back!

V.9C “neither [was any] deceit in his mouth.”
-THE LORD’S SUPERNATURAL.....LACK OF RESPONSE-
(The same kind of “lake of response”
That is expected from us:

The Lord had countless opportunities:
To point out the hypocrisy of those charging & judging Him:
But He never did!

V.10A “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him;”
-THE MOST PERPLEXING PART.....OF THIS PASSAGE-
(It pleased the Father....for this to happen

-THE ONLY WAY.......FOR US TO UNDERSTAND THIS-
Is by the fact...that the Father “saw the big picture”:

➀He saw that Jesus was going to endure it:
➁Therefore bring Glory to both of them:
➂And make salvation available to all humanity!
------------------------
This is why it pleased the LORD!

-ALSO......THINK ABOUT WHAT I SAID ABOUT THIS......BACK IN VERSE 5-
See V.5 Last week I said that this was........
“Part of Satan’s plan...for our Lord’s crucifixion”
But...here we find...that this was the father’s plan:

➀This goes back to the repeated Biblical practice:
➁Of God....using the actions of the wicked:
➂To accomplish His perfect will!

Therefore.....in one since of the word:
The Father did do this!

-THIS IS ALSO A FACT.....THAT GETS CHRISTIANS EXCITED-
Because it reminds us...that God is in control:

V.24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou [art] God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
V.25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
V.26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
V.27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
V.28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
V.29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

V.10B “he hath put [him] to grief:”
-THE FULFILMENT....OF GOD’S PLAN FOR OUR REDEMPTION-
(By the punishment.... “He allowed”
To be inflicted upon Jesus:

This was the....only way:
Our sins....could be paid for!

V.10C “when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin,”
-JESUS WAS AN OFFERING....TO PAY FOR OUR SIN-
Note: (Because of our sin...we owe a debt

And Jesus paid our sin debt....in full!

V.10D “he shall see [his] seed,”
-HERE WE SEE.....WHAT THE FATHER WANTED OUT OF THIS-
(He wanted to see....the fulfillment
Of His promise to Abraham:

To be a father....of many nations!

V.10E “he shall prolong [his] days,”
-A NATURAL RESULT.....OF BEING BORN AGAIN-
(Christians will generally...live longer lives
------------------------
See 1 Kings 3:14
“And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments,
as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.”
-----------------------------------------------
Avoiding sin....pays off in a physical way also!

V.10F “and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.”
-A DETAIL....ABOUT HOW TO BE COMMITTED TO THE LORD-
(By putting yourself.....in God’s hand

Lit. (Under his direction)

This is where total commitment....really pays off!

V.11A “He shall see of the travail of his soul,”
-OUR HEAVENLY FATHER.....WATCHED IT ALL-
(Seeing everything that happened to His Son

Because it was being done.....for a purpose:

This was a legal transaction...that had to be witnessed.

V.11B “[and] shall be satisfied:”
-THE LORD’S PUNISHMENT...SATISFIED GOD’S REQUIREMENT-
(It was enough.....to pay for our sins

The Lord’s death on the cross:
Was a full payment:

So there is nothing left....for us to pay!

V.11C “by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many;”
-THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GOSPEL...MAKES A DIFFERENCE-
(This is why....we tell people about Jesus

-BUT “KNOWLEDGE” ALONE.....DOES NOT SAVE ANYBODY-
Billions of people will die and go to hell:
With only....a “head knowledge”:
------------------------
People need to act...upon conviction:
And conviction...only comes from God!

V.11D “for he shall bear their iniquities.”
-THE DETAIL.....THAT SAVES INDIVIDUAL SOULS-
(When a person....receives & trusts the Gospel
All their sins....are covered by the blood:
