The Eucharist

I am sorry Dave, but that has nothing to do with the thread at hand. I started this thread as a CATHOLIC defense of the Eucharist and to see what CATHOLICS believe about it. If you have a specific question, please feel free to ask. If not, please do not clutter the thread with your opinions of the Eucharist. Please start another thread for that.

Thanks,
Neal

Hey Neal, Dave comments are more than welcome here. You have no authority to admonish anyone here, and his post was on topic. I'm glad to see another Spirit-filled Baptist whose guts are wrenching over this silly discussion.

Jude

ORIGEN (244 AD)
"I wish to admonish you with examples from your religion. You are accustomed to take part in the divine mysteries, so you know how, when you have received the Body of the Lord, you reverently exercise every care lest a particle of it fall and lest anything of the consecrated gift perish. You account yourselves guilty, and rightly do you so believe, if any of it be lost through negligence." (In Exodum homiliae, 13:3)

ATHANASIUS OF ALEXANDRIA (373 AD)
"So long as the prayers of supplication and entreaties have not been made, there is only bread and wine. But after the great and wonderful prayers have been completed, then the bread is become the Body, and the wine the Blood, of our Lord Jesus Christ." (Sermo ad nuper baptizatos)

Brother Neal and Brian,

I can see this is going right back there again. If you have more questions, I encourage you to email me at gnh8@msstate.edu, send me messages at DojoGrant on AOL Instant Messenger, or send me private messages.

God bless,

Grant

Yes, Grant. Praise the Lord that the conversation has been taken back to Biblical Christianity, in which there is no room for false teachings.

I will continue to post my rebuttals, not to drive you away, but to let the world know that not everyone blindly accepts the traditions you, and others put forth here as truth.

Boy, it amazes me how when you ask for information from a specific group others just can't help to jump in. Thank you for your guts wrenching, but I think I understand the Protestant position on many areas of Catholicism. After all, I have been raised Protestant my whole life and am currently a seminary student. Why not let Catholics speak for themselves as to what they believe? I am not saying they are right or wrong, but why can't they say what they believe without everyone pouncing on them like a pack of wolves? Oh well, have fun. I guess the true topic is done with. It did last longer than I thought! :D

Because I don't want the world coming here to find out what catholics believe/teach. They have their own sites, go there and ask. This Board is run and paid for by Baptists, and those viewpoints contrary to our faith are going to be challenged.

Actually I welcome Brother Curtis and others. After all, Augustine said that (excuse his unpolitally correct language) the heretics are allowed on this earth to reveal the truth and to challenge the faithful to grow in their faith. They motivate us to study. I don't have the exact quote but that is the gist of it. So God bless them.

GraceSaves,
BroCurtis,

I will not retract the comment as if it is not true. i.e. Pre-trib rapture is a bunch of hooey. I will however, apologize for making it on this thread to those who have desired to keep this thread on topic. That is the best that I can do.

Blessings to all.

Call it what you want. Just don't be upset when yer faith don't stand up to our Biblical scrutiny, and we tell you so.

Bro Curtis,

I welcome any challenges that you have to Catholicism from the Bible. I will gladly show you where you are mistaken.

God bless you.

PS. I will remove the word hooey from the statement I made and just say, I reject the doctrine of pre-trib rapture. Hope that helps to settle the uncivilty going on here.

Look back thru the forum, you will see many, many unanswered questions.

I posted the Biblical reasons for rejecting the eucharist on this very thread, and those remain unanswered.

Yes, it was. God is God, and God is capable of all things. I think it was put well by others already; Christ performed miracles. Why doubt this one?

Because right now, Christ is at the right hand of God.

Mark 16:19, Acts 2:33, Acts 7:55 , Acts 7:56, Romans 8:34, Colossians 3:1, Hebrews 10:12,
1 Peter 3:22.

He said when he returns, we will be going with him. We don't recieve him, he's gonna revieve us!!!!

John 14:3

And finally, the Holy Spirit is who's doing Christ's earthly work.

John 14:26

I know this has been civil, but I have to chime in. This is a baptist board, and I believe my comments are welcome. I completely reject the eucharist, and furthermore claim that those who participate are no closer to the Lord than I am.
</font>[/QUOTE]Brother Curtis,

These don't in any way reject the Eucharist.

God bless,

Grant

Grant, no evidence ?

It's plain enough for me. There is plenty of info in those verses for me to justify completely rejecting the real presence in the eucharist.

Let's see, Grant says one thing, the Bible says another.

Ding ding ding ding...the Bible wins!!!!!

(undefeated so far, don't ya know)

Jude

The Bible speaks...

(1 Cor 11:27-30 NIV) Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. {28} A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. {29} For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself. {30} That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.

The Real Presence is taught in Scripture. Ding Ding ding ding......
