Only an evil person would want to kill Big Bird!

Will someone please explain to me the why the desire to see an end to a government subsidy for an entertainment network is sin or immoral?

Just so I have this straight.......

Since our publicly funded schools fail to educate our kids, we need to fund a network on T.V. to do it.

This comes from the anti-home school crowd, too. LOL. Plop yer kids in fronna Sesame St., and call it good.

But those ARE some sweet compensation packages. Good for the capitalists.

Ya sure, you betcha. Because in this economy and social structure Big Bird is the only way half the kids will learn the alphabet and to count before they are in kinder garden.

I suspect most of the people who want to kill Big Bird also want to kill early childhood education for poor children. If you can't own slaves you will breed dalits?

This is just silly.
1. It assumes that Sesame Street is more popular and more helpful than it really is.
2. It assumes that people against government funding of such shows and media outlets are against education.

Neither of which is true.

Also, if you want to continue to post the nonsense about slaves you should be honest enough to note that it is liberal policies that breed dependance and slavery.

Edit to add:
At least your consistent in your belief that fictional characters can be killed.

Don't most people on BB prefer that education be privatized?

As in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Canada . . . all slaves to the state.

Can't argue about Sverige.

PBS will do just fine without federal funding. The only way the federal government can continue to fund PBS/NPR is to borrow even more money from China.

Not to mention that the President of PBS is paid $632,000 per year and the President of NPR is paid just over $1,000,000 per year!

In an interview a couple of days ago, the show administration of Sesame Street stated that federal funding is very small; that most of the show's funding comes from underwriting of corporations; and thus, loss of federal funding won't "kill Big Bird."

In fact, Ralph Nader once called for a boycott of Sesame Street, claiming its limited advertising for corporate sponsors was indoctrinating children.

In other words, Romney apparently wants them to expand what they're already doing: using corporate sponsorship and merchandising to continue funding their programming.

If the liberals ever actually realize this, I give Sesame Street less than 30 days before they're kicked off PBS.

BTW: In my grade school days, in a somewhat poorer community public school, the teachers would turn on Sesame Street, The Electric Company, and others. I learned a few things, and even more from Schoolhouse Rock; but would never dream of using them as a primary instruction tool.

Our Comrads who wish to use the force of the state government to collect your money to further their agenda are not afraid to use propaganda such as equating some moral standard in their agenda and crime (killing big bird) in order to defend their Marxist ideas.

Libs make the mistake of confusing watching TV with education.

Studies have shown that watching even supposed educational TV results in a decreased attention span and an ever increasing need for rapid stimulation in children.

Lazy uneducated parents think that they are fullfilling their parenting obligations when they plop their kids down in front of the TV.

But is is evil, or just a difference of opinion?

I guess it depends on how a person looks at things.

Frankly, I would rather some of my tax dollars go to fund PBS with its wholesome programming and fewer of my tax dollars go to funding misadventures overseas and the killing of thousands of innocent civilians. I have given up on commercial TV as I can not in good conscious watch the soft porn, the unsavory language, the making fun of others and calling it comedy, the filth of many of the reality shows, etc., etc. Regular TV is, IMHO, just about a total wasteland. If Christians did not support it and make known to advertisers of their objections things might change. But it seems many Christians also watch and approve of their type of unwholesome programming.

Back before conservatives went way off in some unknown direction I considered myself a conservative ... a compassionate conservative ... and believed, as conservatives did, that we should not be the policeman of the world. That seems to have changed with many folk.

I would rather spend money helping our folk than in killing other folk.

Unless the money is for Planned Parenthood the killing of the unborn "folk".

Unless the money is for the murder of the unborn "folk" overseas.

The hypocrisy is sickening.
