The fallacy of Christian Psychology

And what makes you think that these verses say anything contrary to what a Christian psychologist/psychiatrist believes or teaches?

I truly hope you never have to deal with a family member who is dealing with depression or suicide (I have- it is not a light matter). And if you do, I hope that you will not just throw a Bible at them and say "Read this, it has the answers to all of your problems."

Not all psychological and psychiatric are spiritual in nature. Many times they can have a physical basis. It is a folly and a denial of our weakness as created beings (which God himself recognizes) to claim that everything can be "cured" with a spiritual remedy. Prayer of course is the first resort, but many times God wants us to put feet to our prayers and go to doctors, psychologists and psychiatrists also.

Many Christians look down on psychology and psychiatry out of pride. They say, "It will never happen to me". I hope and pray that it doesn't. But if it does may God grant you the wisdom to get the help you need from a professional.

I am very glad that you brought this up. I am convinced that a Godly christian psychologist saved my sons life. My son was suicidal, and this person was able to use a blend of Bible and psychology to reach him and effectively counsel him. My son is happier now and when he does speak of that time frame he is always (as are my wife and I) GRATEFUL for the christian psychologist that did not just throw a bible at him and preach at him. It is a shame that so many people just assume that christian psychologists are unable to separate the good aspects of psychology from the bad. There is a definite ministry for Godly christian psychologists. By the way before anyone says other wise my son was not suffering from any unconfessed sin.
