I feel so privileged to have known him intimately as a family member. And he was exactly the same in private as he was in public. He wept for sinners when he preached and he wept for them when he prayed in private. He believed that any preacher who could preach on Hell without tears was backslidden.

I have a "few" of his books my own self! ;)

Would that our IFB movement had more like him nowadays!

. . .and I wish he would have been able to take over Bob Jones University after Bob Jones Sr. died. I think if he could have, BJU would have been in a much better condition!

I cut my IFB teeth on reading John R. Rice books, commentaries, and the SoL. To me John R. Rice represented everything that was right about being an IFB.If I were going to say what is the best way to get the IFB back on the right track, I would say read and follow John R. Rice's books and advice.I would also say read "The Fundamentals> by R.A. Torrey as well as "What the Bible Teaches" same author/editor.

We need to read and study God's Word daily.
We need to pray often daily.
We need to be active in an independant Bible believing soul winning church.
We need to be active witnesses for Christ whenever we have opportunity.
We need to serve in the church we attend. We need to support our church.
We need to help disciple new converts.
If we do these things the problems in the IFB will take care of theirselves.:type:
