The Godly Way Women Are To Dress and Look

How can anyone believe that it is the will of God, for women to dress and look anyway other than according to the standards set here in the written word of God?

Deuteronomy, Chapter 22
5: The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

1 Timothy, Chapter 2
9: In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10: But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

1 Corinthians, Chapter 11
6: For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

1 Corinthians, Chapter 11
7: For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

I wear a kilt from time to time...your not saying I have to stop doing that. Especially at our gathering next week.

Now is a long beard ok...men and in some cases...women?

Why do you make jest of a problem that is everywhere among Christian women? And getting worse. You cannot tell them from the world. Even the reverence for God's word has declined among the men of the church to the point that they even encourage the women to dress and look as they may. Not a women in the church should ever own a bikini. We will start there. Is that alright with you?

Clothes were given to us to cover our nakedness, not accentuate it. This doesn't mean women cannot wear pants or men a kilt. But there are distinctions. Men are not to have long hair, nor women short. Paul's argument is that nature, not legalism teaches the elect this. Paul doesn't say men's hair must be two inches off their collar or that women's shirts have to be six inches below the knee. God has given you common sense, let's use it.

We will start with bikini's. How could a Christian women ever wear one of these wicked things and not feel guilty? How could a Christian man ever allow his daughter or wife ever even own this wickedness much less wear it?

Actually my daughter does have a two piece swim suit. However she wears shorts and a water shirt over them when she swims and looks quite decent. It's also easier to use the bathroom and she has an insulin pump which precludes her from wearing a one piece. I agree that women shouldn't wear only that. I view a bikini as underwear for swimming. Now we know it's not proper for a woman to run around in her underwear, which BTW is often more decent than swimwear, why is it OK on the beach or pool?

You really want to start with bikinis, huh? :laugh: If she's secluded in her backyard by the pool with her husband, go for it. But these little two piece numbers that folks wear to public pools or the beach? No way.

I would always ask parents why they would put their little girls in those little two piece bikinis when they would go to the beach or the pool? They think it's cute. (SMH)

And are the bikinis any different from these discusting little "booty" shorts that every girl and her mama is wearing? It's like that's all the stores must sell because that's all the young girls wear.

Good point because you know folks would have a fit if ladies were just walking around with something from Victoria's Secret on.

I think again, we're dealing with modesty. And I think mom's, because they have been there, can honestly answer these questions. Are you wearing the spaghetti straps because you're trying to look sexy, more mature, etc? What's the real purpose?

If the wife wears it in the privacy of just her and her husband, where's the problem?

Daughter I could not condone, but wife, if it's just the husband and wife, what's the big deal?

Most women over 30 years old have no business wearing a two piece swim suit, much less a bikini. By wearing them many women redefine immodesty, and not in a prurient way. My family has vacationed in the Wisconsin Dells for years and let me tell you--well, I'll simply say that America has a problem with obesity.

A bikini covers a girl's nakedness and pertains to a girl, so what's wrong with it?

Top and bottom covered for a girl, loin cloth for a guy. Covered. All good. An animal skin from a sacrifice would do that. Unless a really big animal was the first sacrifice, what do you think the first clothes covered? Given the climate, doesn't make sense that they were covered in fur coats. I'm guessing more along the lines of thin little coverings. Maybe like a bikini or bikini cover style throw for Eve and a loin cloth for Adam. Or maybe they, um, had the exact same thing and the differences in dress came later. Hrm.

It's a great option too. There are many wonderful choices out there that are modest, cover, are safe (those "swim costumes" that the modesty sites sell are not always safe especially when swimming in strong currents or around boats).

Actually, the majority for young people are very short but there are still a ton of great choices at places like Land's End, Old Navy and the like. I prefer shorts to be 5" inseam or longer but my running shorts are a little shorter than that because they are a better choice for the sport.

I think cuteness and coolness would be the main reason. Some of them are very cute and man, you can't beat them when it's 100+ degrees! :)

It is a sign of rebellion in spirit for people to go half way undressed in public wearing shorts, short dresses, no shirts, ect. They do this to draw attention to their bodies if they are young but if they are old and fat they want to scare people.
