Reminisce magazine is great! At my house, I'm not allowed to get my hands on it until my kids have found Hattie's hatpin. :laugh:

Me too - esp gas at 30 cents per gallon

I remember lots of times ----- I'd be putting gas into the tank of the lawn mower with daddy watching-----and I'd spill some on the ground or onto the lawnmower frame and daddy would say

BOY------YOU WATCH WHAT CHA DOIN'-------YOU'RE WASTEIN' THAT STUFF AND IT COSTS A FORTUNE!!!!!!!!
:thumbs::thumbs:

When I see him again in Heaven one day---I'm gonna flip his lid when I tell him how much I paid for gas last time I filled up!!!!!!

YOU PAID HOW MUCH??????---I CAN HEAR HIM SAY THAT!!!

It's a good thing this is in the fellowship forum......

:D (what I can remember of the 60's wasn't always good...)

But this is a fellowship forum so I'm keeping my mouth mostly shut.

I can reminisce and remember back to when Reminisce first came out by Reiman Publishing and it had no ads!! :D I used to get all their magazines - Country, Country Extra, Country Women, Reminisce, Farm & Ranch, Birds & Bloom, and all the cooking ones too. Ahhhhh - memories!

I guess the good old days for me were not so good as I spent an awful lot of my time in therapy and hospital. So the best days of my life are NOW...I am free of the burden of the past, have archieved stability, forgiveness and letting the past go:sleeping_2:

Menageriekeeper------true, true, true----I can remember in the '60's---the good ole days-----we'd have family reunions---and on a hot summer Louisiana nite--we'd get together and churn homemade ice cream----with a "hand cranked" maker----the boys would all take turns turning the crank---and when the Ice cream would start gettin' "stiff"----the big boys would take over!!!!!!

True----over on the other side of the world---the Vietnam war was hot, hot----and we'd remember "The boys" in our prayers----but from where we were----we couldn't hear the guns going off or the bombs being dropped----and we were over there so that we would never have to hear the guns nor the bombs over here!!

$25/hour net is about 6.5 gallons of gas/hour. How many gallons/hour was your dad making? I'm guessing my first full time job paid around 6 gallons/hour back in 1958. That was doing janitor work.

Interesting . . . The good old days were terrible for 80% of everyone until the post WW2 "middle class" bubble.
