The GOP's rude awakening on health-care repeal

I think you meant Medicare ...
...I believe the GOP house members knew when they voted that is was for politics only. They were simply playing to some of their voters. Now they can say, "Hey, we tried."

There is no way this will be signed into law. In fact, it most likely will never be brought up, even in committee in the senate.

I'm looking at my taxi charge slip right now and it says "Medicaid"

If one house passes a bill, I believe the other house has an obligation to at a minimum bring it to committee for an up or down vote.

"Now they can say" - you know where we stand on the issue!!!!!

BTW, I still would like an answer to my "hypothetical question" or at least your "opinion" !

Wait a minute - what do you mean opinion - I gave some "facts" what then would be the best option?

Medicaid? I don't see the connection.

It may have to be assigned to a committee. I am not sure this is true. Anyway many ideas die 'in committee.'

No idea what you mean here. Sorry.

BTW, I still wfree clinic and see how it really is for many folk. They need lots of volunteersould like an answer to my "hypothetical question" or at least your "opinion" !

I have no opinion on such a hypothetical question.

Wait a minute - what do you mean opinion - I gave some "facts" what then would be the best option?

Not sure what the facts were you had in your question that apply to health care.

If you have no health care at all, as many do not, then something is better than nothing. Volunteer to work in a local to help out. It may be just filing records or answering the phone ... but it will be a real world educational experience.

and that is fine - at least it went thur the system according to the rules - but just to sit on it is wrong...

My mistake - you are required to think to figure this out

Salty, I am serious in my suggestion that you volunteer to be a worker in a local free clinic. Work for a year or two and see if your opinion changes. There are so many people in our society without health insurance.

And it has being pointed out over and over in the many discussions on this board - health insurance and health care are two different things.

A lack of health insurance does not mean a lack of health care.

Try working for a minimum wage with no health insurance or being handicapped with no health insurance and see how wonderful the health care system is for you!

Explain to us how the current health care system is so wonderful for those without health insurance.

Remember the little boy in Maryland who died from an abscessed tooth because no dentist would see him. Why would they not see him? Because he had no insurance and his parents did not have money to pay the dentists.

Go without insurance and see how long you have to wait.

Why are you asking me to respond to hypotheticals?

Why are you asking me to respond to hypotheticals?

They are not hypothetical for thousands of Americans. You indicated that the health care system is great for people who have no insurance. Back up your words with facts.

I gave you a concrete example of the death of a little boy. That is not hypothetical.

Give me facts on why the system is good, even for those without insurance.

Your example is a hypothetical until you provide all the details.

And when he does, you will find such a horrible case of parental neglect it will make you sick. He's tried this one, several times. Each time, to disappear when the facts start getting discussed.

A very callous attitude. His parents tried. They took him to a number of dentists and none of them would treat him.

Do you care so little for children that you would allow one to die ... if you were a dentist simply because he or his parents could not pay?

Give me scripture to back up your view.

Remember the questions in Matthew at the judgment?

So then provide the details - sources - links - etc.

Until then it remains a hypothetical.

There is no shame with liberals. They will lie about the death of a little boy for their purpose, with no compassion for him. Just like they used the death of a nine-year old to try and take Palin down. And when their lie is exposed, they throw Christ around.

Disgusting.

Where is your compassion? Do you care that the boy died?

A simple toothache can be fatal.

That is the sobering message a 12-year-old Maryland boy left when, after his dental problems went untreated, he succumbed to a severe brain infection.

Deamonte Driver's life could have been spared if his infected tooth was simply removed -- a procedure costing just $80.

However, the Driver family faced obstacles with Medicaid, poverty, and access to resources, resulting in an easily preventable health problem turning deadly.

All day long I take people to the doctors (as they get a FREE taxi ride ) on Medicaid that I pay for with my taxes. And you would be surprised as to how many of these people still complain. Yes, my opinion has changed in the seven years I have done taxi - I'm more sick of all the "free govt give-away"

What really gets me is that I also contract with Call-a-Bus. This is mainly for seniors (who have no business driving) and for those with physical handicaps. They are required to pay at least $1.50 for their ride (bus fare). And for the most part there is no complaint. Thats petty good - those who pay - even a little are very grateful - those who get a totally free ride - complain much more.
and don't get me started on Rides to work and OCM -(yes, other free programs)

So we should deny them insurance because they will complain?

Your article doesn't say that the parents ever took the child to the dentist - only that they wanted to find a dentist that took Medicaid.

How many dentists did they take the child to see?

How do you know that any dentist turned him away?

Your article doesn't say that.

BTW - are you not aware that the Obama healthscare plan doesn't cover dental or vision?

I remember well the coverage this incident received on local TV. Isn't one dentist turning him down too many. Where is your compassion? Do you think he deserved to die ... regardless of what his mother did or did not do?

If his mother had been insured.

If his family had not lost its Medicaid.

If Medicaid dentists weren't so hard to find.

If his mother hadn't been focused on getting a dentist for his brother, who had six rotted teeth.

By the time Deamonte's own aching tooth got any attention, the bacteria from the abscess had spread to his brain, doctors said. After two operations and more than six weeks of hospital care, the Prince George's County boy died.

Deamonte's death and the ultimate cost of his care, which could total more than $250,000, underscore an often-overlooked concern in the debate over universal health coverage: dental care.

Some poor children have no dental coverage at all. Others travel three hours to find a dentist willing to take Medicaid patients and accept the incumbent paperwork. And some, including Deamonte's brother, get in for a tooth cleaning but have trouble securing an oral surgeon to fix deeper problems.

In spite of efforts to change the system, fewer than one in three children in Maryland's Medicaid program received any dental service at all in 2005, the latest year for which figures are available from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

http://www.haitiwebs.com/showthread.php?t=42899

Wouldn't spending $80.00 with state or federal sponsored health care be better than $250,000 when he really became sick?

Again, where is your compassion?
