I understand and sympathize with what you're saying, BUT the title is a superlative - meaning "only one".

I know what superlative means, I've taught English.

Alright then, I will cast my vote for them using a collective noun. I cast my vote for the unsung American.

There are two people actually who I look as the greatest. Theadore Roosevelt and Ronald Regan.

Roosevelt vaulted America on to the national spotlight with the Spanish American War. He made us the number two super power. Second only behind Great Britain at the time.

Regan brought honour back to the White House during a time of struggle and was a man of action. He was a great statesman and a hard lined fighter.

Depends on how you define greatest. Ifyou're talking about influential, then FDR and Lincoln would have to be up there. If you'retalking about goodness and integrity, neither of them would be a blip on the radar screen.

Thomas J. Jackson (Robert E. Lee & George Washington close behind)

Thomas Jackson was a devout christian. He had a standing order, that if at all possible, his units were not to be involved in action on a Sunday. So as not to defy Gods wishes.

I think for over all impact, I’d say Albert Einstein.

I also want to put Washington, FDR, and MLK. If colonial America counts, I’d put Jonathan Edwards high on my list….this is too hard…..I’ll stick with Einstein.
