The Indispensable Rush Limbaugh

The indispensable man is Rush Limbaugh.

Is there any doubt his vocal and unequivocal opposition to the immigration bill was what turned general public opinion against it?

The Democrats in DC are incensed about “talk radio” because they could co-opt and browbeat their Republican colleagues but they could not silence the unelected opposition

Limbaugh had so seriously damaged the bill early in the process he could take a week off the air before the critical vote to play golf in CT and NJ, probably confident he had already set things in motion.

It’s pretty obvious to me that the GOP can’t accomplish something over Rush’s objection, and it’s also pretty obvious he’s going to have to be our de facto voice until the 2008 presidential primaries are over.

Even though I agree with the defeat of the Amnesty for Business bill, I feel very, very sorry for the Republican Party. May it rest in peace.

Makes me really look forward to putting a Libertarian Party license plate on my car on Independence Day.

By the way, why are attacking only Democrats and not Republicans such as George W. Bush and Trent Lott in the OP?

As long as Limbaugh has been around , one would think that all of us would know what he's about. :BangHead:

Apparently, that's not the case.

No. There are Republicans such as George W. Bush and John McCain who are just as big supporters of amnesty as any Democrat is.

Yep.

But unlike them, Rush remains true to the conservative agenda. Consistently.

He doesn't hesitate to take on Republicans who don't.

But it is still primarily democrats who want to silence conservative talk radio and will soon seek a "legislative solution" to that particular free speech problem.

It's good to know he's at least as prescient as I am.

Of course, it helps that Hillary said it first and tipped us off.

Wow: you are as prescient as the thrice-divorced drug-addicted, chicken hawk hedonist? I would give you more credit that that, but okay....

Yeah, and here's a fun game:
every time you listen to Rush, try counting the times he says the following:
1. Democrat Party (El Rushbo knows that it is Democratic Party, but then again nobody ever accused him of being an intellectual)
2. Drive-By Media
3. Makes any reference to the Clintons

More often than not, it will be a few seconds into his introductory monologue, so you have to be ready to count.

Once you play this, he will undoubtedly remind you of the horse in Animal Farm.

Nope. I said he's a least as prescient as I am... in spite of his handicaps. But I'm not particularly prescient at all. As I said, I was tipped off. ;)

You should really try to rein in your hate for Rush before it eats you up.:applause:

I'll leave that to one of his most dedicated listeners, you.

Do keep us posted. We're depending on you.:type:

Well BiR, he really pushes your buttons huh? If you don't like him, why do you listen? He is the main voice for conservatism, and as so is the huge target for those that cannot compete for main stream acceptance on talk radio. They must legislate him away, or work out a much longer time line for their agenda to finalize socialism in America.

The Republican Party will self-destruct the day Rush Limbaugh pushes that button. And he never will.

Seek they will, but they won't find, at least for another year or so.

The House, last week:

309-115.

Now this makes little sense, but why does it even have to?:

Pipe dream, Orwellian pipe dream.

I can't answer for BiR but some of us enjoy listening to or reading a variety of viewpoints. We are not afraid to consider the viewpoints of those we disagree with. If I didn't want to read other viewpoints then I wouldn't come to this board and read on it.

If they succeed will internet censorship be far behind?

Whether or not one likes Rush Limbaugh or any other person on the radio or television, 'left' or 'right', one listens only by choice (they all still have some sort of ON/OFF button!), unless they are in an environment where someone else is controlling the radio or TV. Personally, I would rather hear anyone, whether or not I like them to a great degree, or I despise them, personally and politically, to the inane music I often hear, from whatever flavor of music.

At least I can learn something, beyond who has 'bad taste' in music , from (formerly) Don Imus, to Al Franken, to Ann Coulter, to Rosie O'Donnell (formerly) of 'The View', to name just a very few examples, besides Rush Limbaugh.

FTR, there is no such thing as anyone who is 'indispensible', save the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ed

P.S. A definite 'fan' of "Talk"!

The reason I read a discarded NY Times or LA Times, or listen to NPR once in a while, is to see what Americas enemies are up to. Is that what you mean Ken?

Except I don't consider those who disagree with me to be "America's enemies".

Rush had somewhat of a role to play by reaching his audience but by far Numbers USA being ever diligent as they are rallied the masses on this issue.

Wow: I leave for an extended period of time, and didn't see that I had such a quick response.

No, not really - simply stating the obvious.

If you don't like him, why do you listen?

I listen to know what I am going to see posted in this forum.

He is the main voice for conservatism,

Nope, he is a shill for the GOP, nothing more. Most "true" Conservatives I know really loathe him.

and as so is the huge target for those that cannot compete for main stream acceptance on talk radio. They must legislate him away, or work out a much longer time line for their agenda to finalize socialism in America.

Yep, and this is precisely what he says every single week - almost verbatim. Undoubtedly, you are under the false impression that the Fairness Doctrine is only about Rush. I know he likes to think so, and claims this ad nauseum, but it is more than that.

Regards to both of you,
BiR
