Over 100,000 convicted felons attempted to illegally purchase firearms each year during President Barack
Obama’s eight years in the oval office, and the Obama administration did virtually nothing about it.

The Obama Department of Justice (DOJ) only "considered prosecuting" approximately 30 to 40 convicted felons per year who attempted to illegally purchase firearms — roughly .04%, the Daily Caller News Foundation reported.

Some thoughts on current events and the second amendment (more at the link):

The 2nd Amendment does not guarantee “the right to keep and bear a single-shot musket...” The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution says, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” It binds the federal government in regards to the rights of citizens. “Arms” means “weapons and ammunition; armaments.” Not only does the amendment not say “keep and bear a single-shot musket” – the single-shot musket was not the only “arms” available in 1791 when the 2nd amendment was passed. Further, the SCOTUS in ‘District of Columbia v. Heller’ clarified that “The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia...” It does not just guarantee guns for militia service, as some claim. The Second Amendment “is what it is” and it is not going anywhere (does anyone seriously think they can get 38 states to vote to amend or repeal this?). Rather than a shrill argument over what’s wrong with the Second Amendment and how to get rid of it – an argument that never goes anywhere – perhaps both sides might try to see what things they could agree on. Under the Second Amendment as it exists and has been interpreted, how can we work together to curb violence in our country? It is a societal problem – and I would say spiritual problem – much bigger than guns or mental illness. Without guns, using diesel fuel and fertilizer, Timothy McVeigh, Terry Nichols, and Michael Fortier killed 168 people (19 of whom were children) and injured more than 500 people!

Based on eight years of inaction under the Obama administration, at least 2 years of which they had control of all three branches of the government, I'd say they are not interested in gun control. It's just an issue they tout to play to their base.

Well, I wish they would keep touting it, if they do, the midterms are a slam dunk. There is no better issue that drives GOP voters to the polls that this "common sense gun control" nonsense except maybe in the Northeastern states, where they've already implemented it.

What gets me is the same people will say things like "you can't judge all Muslims/illegal immigrants/criminals by the actions of one!" except gun owners, and that's exactly what they are trying to do. Not gonna happen, too bad, so sad.

The Obama Administration didn't like to prosecute one of their own, but they did run arms down to Mexican drug dealers. And that weirdo guy in Michigan in the 1920s still holds the record and he used explosives. In Florida, firing Israel would be a start.

Several people said on the news that they don't have school shootings in Israel anymore. Maybe we need to send a delegation of security experts over there or ask some of their experts to come show us how to do it. This does need to stop once and for all. The Broward County students are not even mourning but are taking to the streets with political action right away--like you say it is Democrat Party politics with them.

I still agree with Florida Governor Rick Scott that Christopher Wray needs to be fired.

the only reason I didn't address post before is that I wasn't sure exactly what you'd seen. Anyways, I will now:

We do need to provide not only better medical care for the mentally ill but we also need to dispel lies about them told by ignorant people like you. The major problem is that many poor people with mental illnesses are sent to state hospitals but aren't given proper care and are released to go back on the street.

I dealt with these people for years. They are crazy, nutty, 96 and everything else. I was injured in the line of duty three times by these nuts that should have been locked up. When they are a danger to others, they need institutionalized. They get proper care, then go off meds; then get care, then go off meds. It does not work. Institutions worked.
