    2 John teaches that we are not to allow someone to come into our home to teach their own brand of theology. There is a difference betwen allowing a false teacher to freely teach heresies and inviting people to your home to socialize and know them better so you can possibly establish a better relationship and win them to Christ. People know when they have been used and are manipulated instead of loved.

    God bless everyone who uses thier home as a place to witness to the lost. Poeple will listen to you when they know and respect you. Reminds me of an old saying,"people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care".:godisgood:

    My pastor used to tell me that people don't care what you know until they know that you care.

    Actually, tomorrow morning I am preaching on something that seems to have a bearing here.

    In Luke 7:1-10 we have a Roman centurion who has won the respect and love of the people. Despite being a Gentile "dog" and leader in the military of the oppressive/occupying army, an army which represented an idol worshipping empire, somehow the people seemed to love and respect him.

    I believe the key was they saw he was genuine, in that he built them a synagogue, but they also saw he loved the nation and I believe that was primary.

    The best way a person can see us as genuine and loving is to let them into our homes.

    Hopefully my example is not off base, but it just seemed appropriate.

    You witness "every visit" more than you give yourself credit, I like to call it living the message. It is not only our words that witness, our lives do also. How do we live for Christ and not embrace our fellowman?

    The biggest difference is the first chapter of John and John 3:15-18. However, their Bible still has Romans 10:9 and many other good versus to witness. When I deal with JW, I try to first deal with who Jesus is. They make him more of a great prophet than a savior. They are also working for their salvation.

    To those who hold to not having the lost in the home may I ask what happened in the first few centuries when church meetings were held in homes?

    Good discussion and I agree with the tenor of agreement among the folks who have posted on this thread.
    I am wondering though;
    Where is SFIC?

    Was this for his benefit to explain himself or was this to get a consensus of the membership?

    I will have friends and family over to the house who are lost just for the sake of being with them and hopefull showing them a 'christian' home and how we live and enjoy many things which they do. I will even go to their homes...(gasp!). My goal in every visit whether in their home or mine is to find an opportunity to share Jesus with them, even if it is a pssing remark about what the Bible says about a given topic.

    My niece (Mormon) and nephew (brother's son) invited me to dinner a couple weeks ago. Lovely dinner. Great kids. Wise beyond their years (26 & 27). The conversation eventually lead to Bible questions since they know I have my degree now. We talked until about 3 am. Jesse told mehe was saved when he was a young lad in Awana's. His mother used to take him all the time. (I did not know this) Hailey had TONS of questions about what it means to be saved and how it happens. Though she did not get saved at that time; I believe that the fact that "Uncle Jim" is approachable and open to justbeing with them; she is not far from accepting the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible. She now knows what leavingMormonism will mean to her relationship with her mother nad family but she seems about ready to face facts and accept Christ. Just a few more visits and encounters, (Lord willing and should He tarry), and she will get saved.

    By ALL means.....win them.

    (Please keep that last statement in the context in which it is given. It frustrates me to no end when folks glom onto a statement taken out of context to show how righteous they are.)
