My G-son has one of these beasts (Mosin Nagant) & loves it.
I just bought him 100 rounds from Cheaper Than Dirt for his b-day; along with other calibers also.

The Mosin was designed to be fired with the bayonet affixed. Sight it in with it on and you'll be 6-10 inches to the left at 100 yards with it off.

Started inspecting the parts and cleaning the cosmoline off. Hope to be done tomorrow and try it out on Thursday.

Dated 1937, and though I am near 100% certain that it was issued (at some point the stock was refurbished in Ukraina); the barrel and action show almost no wear whatsoever.

Ought to be a cheap thrill.
