The Myths of Black Lives Matter

To judge from Black Lives Matter protesters and their media and political allies, you would think that killer cops pose the biggest threat to young black men today. But this perception, like almost everything else that many people think they know about fatal police shootings, is wrong.

The Washington Post has been gathering data on fatal police shootings over the past year and a half to correct acknowledged deficiencies in federal tallies. The emerging data should open many eyes.

For starters, fatal police shootings make up a much larger proportion of white and Hispanic homicide deaths than black homicide deaths. According to the Post database, in 2015 officers killed 662 whites and Hispanics, and 258 blacks. (The overwhelming majority of all those police-shooting victims were attacking the officer, often with a gun.) Using the 2014 homicide numbers as an approximation of 2015’s, those 662 white and Hispanic victims of police shootings would make up 12% of all white and Hispanic homicide deaths. That is three times the proportion of black deaths that result from police shootings.

The lower proportion of black deaths due to police shootings can be attributed to the lamentable black-on-black homicide rate. There were 6,095 black homicide deaths in 2014—the most recent year for which such data are available—compared with 5,397 homicide deaths for whites and Hispanics combined. Almost all of those black homicide victims had black killers.

Police officers—of all races—are also disproportionately endangered by black assailants. Over the past decade, according to FBI data, 40% of cop killers have been black. Officers are killed by blacks at a rate 2.5 times higher than the rate at which blacks are killed by police.

Who cares what the WSJ thinks about BLM? Police officers are still murdering black men and bypassing due process. Make all the excuses that they want. There is a systemic problem in police forces all across this country and something needs to be done immediately.

And if that takes an Executive Order, then so be it. President Obama can do that while the do nothing obstructionist GOP Congress is still trying to get traction for some stupid emails.

BLM is an off shoot of Acorn, underwritten by the far left liberals of the DNC. It has one goal, "Race war!"

Who is underwriting the undervaluing and marginalization of black lives by some of the police? What's the goal of the police who keep murdering these people?

Wonder what you think that executive order should look like.
I don't really think about it, because I don't think that's the answer. But Congress refuses to do anything so he might as well.

Congress for the most part leaves next week and isn't back until September. Then they are gone again for most of October and half of November.

If I were him, I'd have my pen ready to do what they have refused to do.

And what is that?

Then what would you have congress do?

Make all guns of mass destruction illegal to own.

There was a time when Congress understood why there was no need for a civilian to own an automatic weapon. Likewise the same thing should be said about semi-automatic weapons.

Last I knew automatics were illegal. Pistols and knives kill as well, or cars for that matter, even knitting needles - where do you stop when you blame inanimate objects instead of the perps that will get weapons no matter how illegal you make them.

Wonder what you think that executive order should look like.

If he illegally writes one, it will look like all his gun control proposals, making felons of law abiding citizens. It will do nothing at all to stop the criminal element like Black Lives Matter.

Merely look at the principle contributors to BLM, Geo Soros, Google and Yom Steyer (hedge fund billionaire) to name a few.

We all know that's a lie. The biggest threat to young black men today is young black men.
