The New Birth and Soul Salvation

Where in the Bible is it taught that being born again is the same thing as salvation of the soul? I'm not looking for general "salvation" passages, as I do believe that both are parts of our salvation (just as the adoption of the body is not the same as being born again, but both are still a part of our salvation). I'm trying to find verses/passages that show being born of God and "soul" salvation as interchangeable concepts.

This is actually one of the passages that I believe shows that they are two different concepts.

1 Peter 1:

Verse 3: "which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again" (past tense)

Verse 5: "kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed" (future tense)

Verses 8-9: "Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls" (present tense)

1 Peter 1:

Verse 3:

I believe you may be conflating the corporate 'building again' with the individual 'born from above'.

The regeneration, the kingdom, the Church that Christ built, the rebuilt House of David, the New Covenant, is composed of many 'regenerates'. 'The regeneration' is corporate in every sense of the word.

4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: Ezek 37

5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace have ye been saved), Eph 2

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1 Pet 1

16 After these things I will return, And I will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen; And I will build again the ruins thereof, And I will set it up: Acts 15

18 And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. Mt 16

9 who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before times eternal, 2 Tim 1

3 seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue; 2 Pe 1

18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. Ja 1

I think you may be overthinking this.
We are begotten again (past) into a living (present) hope (future). The one leads to the others.

I believe that our salvation is three part, with each part relating to a different part of our being:

1. Born Again = Spirit
"that which is born of the Spirit is spirit" John 3:6b

2. Soul Salvation = Soul
"Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls." James 1:21

3. Redemption of the Body = Body
"even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body." Romans 8:23b

I believe that we are "called" (spirit), "justified" (soul), and "glorified" (body), in that order.

"Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified." Romans 8:30

I believe that God sanctifies us in three distinct parts:

"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it." 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

What I've experienced though, is that most people see salvation in two parts. While everyone that I've encountered acknowledges that the glorification of the body is distinct, spiritual birth and soul salvation are always spoken of interchangeably. I wondered if there was any biblical support for the idea that they are one and the same?

Many years ago, I spent some time looking at texts with 'soul' or 'spirit' in them. There are some places where they are used together (eg. Luke 1:46-47, 1 Thes. 5:23-24; Hebrews 4:12). None of these seem to explain what the difference is between the two. Where the words occur separately, they seem to have much the same meaning.
John 3:3-5 tells us that unless one is born again, one will neither see not enter the kingdom of God. e enter the kingdom of God at the point of rebirth (Philippians 3:20a); our soul/spirit goes to be with God at the point of physical death, to be united with our bodies at the resurrection.
Therefore, I have stopped worrying myself about it. God has it all in hand. :)

2. Soul Salvation = Soul
"Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls." James 1:21

The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul: The testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple.

8

The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart: The commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes.

9

The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring for ever: The ordinances of Jehovah are true, [and] righteous altogether.

10

More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the droppings of the honeycomb.

11

Moreover by them is thy servant warned: In keeping them there is great reward.

12

Who can discern [his] errors? Clear thou me from hidden [faults].

13

Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins]; Let them not have dominion over me: Then shall I be upright, And I shall be clear from great transgression. Ps 19

14

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in thy sight, O Jehovah, my rock, and my redeemer.
