I have a suggestion for the moderator of the next presidential debate.

Yes, indeed, it is clear after last night that Mil Muertes is the man for the job.

"...The second debate will be moderated by Steve Scully, the senior executive producer and political editor at C-SPAN. It will be held Thursday, Oct. 15 in Miami, Florida. Scully was a back-up moderator for all of the presidential debates in 2016...."

"...The third debate, at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, will be moderated by Kristen Welker, a White House correspondent and anchor at NBC News, on Thursday, Oct. 22...."

The second debate will be moderated by Steve Scully, the senior executive producer and political editor at C-SPAN.

The second debate is a town hall setting so it should be more toned down with regular folks asking questions. Still, just to be safe, I would replace Steve Scully with Mil Muertes and allow him to powerbomb any candidate who gets out of line.

I am hoping Steve will do a much better job than Chris. Chris used democrat talking point terms, such as mail in ballots, when "unsolicited ballots" is the issue. He also said Mr. Trump was doing the interrupting, but I have seen no careful revue of the tape to quantify interruptions. Whenever a "moderator" sides with one side, why is it always the democrat?

I’m somewhat changing my opinion on the first debate, because I misunderstood its format. It wasn’t even close to high school debate rules. Only the first question of a 15-minute segment was timed response. All remaining questions were open discussion, which they didn’t define. They deliberately made it reality TV. And Chris was as much a character as anyone with his bias and interruptions.

How about him standing by and powerbombing any moderator who moderates in a biased manner? They would need a lot of backup mods. :Wink

Wallace ran a terrible debate. His questions were stale and outdated. He acted like Candy Crowley in 2012.

So Trump won. People like Trump but Biden is not likeable. The Baptist vote leans towards Biden except amongst the lower class in the back pews.

Wallace hurt Biden by trying to help him all the time. Wallace thought that Biden is incompetent evidently. Wallace should go into politics. I wonder if Trump will ever grant Wallace another interview?

What??
Every Baptist church has a full back row.
Don't you know of The Back Row Baptists?
Lower class?
You mean lower than those in the front row?
That is low.

Nah. Just the candidates. They’re the ones wanting to exercise power over us. Let’s have someone to stand up for us in these debates when they get out of line, someone they can’t intimidate. Cero miedo! :Thumbsup

LOL. OK, now I’m intrigued. Just who do you imagine was intimidated during the debate and why do you imagine so? This ought to be good. May need to start another thread.

How about having two moderators: Tucker Carlson and Rachel Maddow. Each would get a certain number of questions they can ask of either candidate, say 12 question each. They must ask at least 4 questions of their favored candidate and up to 8 questions of their opposing candidate. No restrictions.

Also the ability to turn off a candidate's microphone when the other candidate is speaking during their 2 minute free time.

Bipartisan, by far, would be more achievable than nonpartisan.

I was writing prospectively. Although, from the little I saw and what I have heard about the debate, I would have been much sterner than Chris Wallace was.
LOL. I agree the main problem was Wallace, but not because of lack of sternness—he was overly biased, interrupting Trump making good points, letting Biden be typically crass, and not bothering to press Biden at all.

Wallace had the unmitigated gall to criticize Trump for interrupting after he himself had set the stage by doing just that, and refused to rebuke the equally guilty Biden.

Here’s the deal: If you take on someone tougher than you, and they beat you to a pulp, it’s a bit disingenuous to whine they’re a bully because they used all their might.

The Left needs to learn this lesson and face the consequences unmercifully until it sinks in. We the people are tougher than these corrupt politicians. Hopefully, the next 4 years under Trump's leadership will do the trick.
