In 2009 Barack Obama won it for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples". The prize was awarded less than a year into his first term as U.S. president. 
Then of course, Al Gore won it for...I think because he invented the internet, right? lol Or was it climate change?
