OK. God's most interesting Law is the Law of Unintended Consequences.

Does the Baptist Board have a position on the 60% or so of the conceptions that are spontaneously aborted? What is the status of these children in their next life? Are they sinless or do they need to be saved? What opportunity have they had to sin? Does God create false memories for the so that they will have a personality? Or are they incubated after they get to Heaven? Maybe they are like the angels?

You have asked some fascinating questions! I honestly don't know the answers, but I too have often wondered what happens to those conceptions that are spontaneously aborted by the woman's body. I'm looking forward to reading the responses of others.

I find it fascinating to study the interplay between science and theology.
If one ignores one discipline, it is easy to endorse err.

Scientifically conception is a complex process and not a simple single point of entry to life.

I feel that expressions of faith that include it have gone beyond the words of Scripture.

That being said, I believe it is the safest course for Christians to travel.
Our God is just and trustworthy:
We can know that he will deal justly with those that do not travel the full course of life that God has graced us with.

My personal statement:

Life is a sacred gift that we are to protect and honor.
Scripture makes no distinction between the termination of life before birth or after an individual is born, clearly condemning murder.
Taking the life of an unborn child is no different than taking the life of any other innocent.
Exodus 21:22–25*

*If men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she gives birth prematurely, yet there is no injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman’s husband may demand of him, and he shall pay as the judges decide.
But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.
Exodus 21:22-25 NASB95

This is sorta like asking if God can make a stone so big that even He cannot move it?!

IOW, a question with no answer, and fitting that point that Paul made about foolish questions & arguments:
Tit 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
Bolded mine

Interesting point, but I can just see the venom from some who take something like this very seriously!!

(How many angels can fit on the head of a pin-----?)

I don't know. I've never seen one articulated.

Most people believe children that die as infants (some say before the 'age of accountability' which may be sometime in childhood) go to heaven.

It is a fact that until recently most children died in infancy or childhood from various diseases. In some places that is still the case.

So, if you add the 60% that die from spontaneous abortions with all the youngs one that have died as infants/children.....then.....

.....the overwhelming majority of people in heaven will fall into those categories... they never reached adulthood, never married, never fell into gross immorality, and never argued on the baptist board the finer points of liberal and conservative issues.
What opportunity have they had to sin?
Not an issue if you believe origional sin passes from the man to the child and transmitted at conception.
Does God create false memories for the so that they will have a personality?
No need for false memories, they will start having memories the instant that are in heaven. Just because their physical bodies are not mature, doesn't mean their spirits are not fully developed.
Or are they incubated after they get to Heaven?
No need for their spirits to be incubated. Their spirits do not have to develop like their physical bodies.
Maybe they are like the angels?
Only in the sense that they will never marry.

peace to you:praying:

Doesn't seem quite scriptural.
2 Kings 14:6 (King James Version)

6But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

Your questions in no way disprove life begins at conception.
As far as I'm concerned it's a faith issue.
One believes God or one doesn't.

No sin, no death. (Romans 5) Therefore, the very fact that they died tells us sin was present.

That is biblical

Maybe you should ask your scientist if a cell is "alive" when grows and divides and so on.

If a scientist can declare a single cell ameba "alive" why do Christians have such a hard time believing life begins at conception?

The fertilized cell immediately displays the signs of life. It grows and divides and so on. Things that are not alive do not do that.

Life begins at conception.

peace to you:praying:

I am closing this thread. This is the politics forum. The official BB position on when life begins is not up for debate. If you want to discuss the questions posed in the OP, please start a thread in another forum, not the Politics Forum.
