Gracious! Hope you can grab some sleep this morning Sheila!

Morning Roger. We're getting a few snow flakes this morning. Nick is thrilled. Our son Jon called as he was leaving work west of us to tell us to look outside. We were watching the weather channel and the lady kept saying it was snowing...

The M4 was very clear and we got to Heathrow in 11/2 hours. Getting home took a little longer because we stopped at the services. The hot chocolate we had there helped us to stay awake until we reached home again.

We now have TWO drums of grits and some American candy including some Reeces peanut cups. I also have an American cook book.

Well, I could very easily go back to bed as I am so tired, but things to do. What is everyone doing today ? I still have Christmas cards to write out and post.

Blessings

Sheila

I've been chatting by IM with our daughter. She has a survey to do online before she goes to work tho. Her husband got a BIG promotion. He's now THE morning guy at KC101 in New Haven. He gets home before 10 a.m. and she leaves for work right away. Only works part time tho.

I have a kitchen floor to mop and a little laundry to do. Jim will come home with a weeks worth that has to be washed, starched and ironed before Monday morning.

I also have to get out and buy some white tissue paper. We're having 'The Walking Bible' at church on Sunday and a time to bring your gifts to the manger. Our gifts are food items wrapped in white paper.

Jim and I still have to pick up a few things for Nick. My mother sent a check and left it up to me what to buy and wrap from her. I know what to get but just have to head to the big city to get the things.

Hi Sheila and Roger,

Enjoy your woodburner, Sheila. We heat our 2000 sq ft home with one woodstove, and have done for 32 years....and we get more severe weather. We do have electric fires in bathrooms.

I thought, at times, I would like to have central heating, but that soon wears off. Maybe on my 80th birthday, I'll give it another thought.

Cheers,

Jim
Same here, about the same size house and one woodstove heats it all. Do have electric heat, though, so no pressure to keep the stove running while away, etc.

No need for ducting, it's a large stove in the basement, and natural convection carries the heat upstairs, and the upstairs floors stay warm...the most important thing.

The wood warms you three times...when you cut it, when you carry it in, and when you burn it.

BTW, Jim...what's an "electric fire"?

Nice to see you joining us here at the tearoom, Jim.

Wood heat is lovely. I grew up with a fireplace in the parlour and a cooker in the kitchen (coal burners) as the only solurce of heat. The electric fires in the bathrooms only come on when the light switch is activated.

It is always cozy here. We also have our own woodlot, but I don't cut and fetch the wood anymore. Son-in-law gets that warmth. I do split it though, by machine, of course and carry it indoors.

Cheers,

Jim

Forgot to mention. An electric fire is just a unit heater powered by electricity...baseboard or stand-alone.

Cheers,

Jim

I thought maybe. To a simple-minded American, "electric fire" is a funny word for a heater. :D

Thanks for the welcome, and yes, the house has a compeltely different, and nice feeling when heated with wood. BTW, also use the fireplace on Sundays and holidays, especially on Christmas as soon as Santa is clear of the chimney.

I must remember that, Pa. Jim! Can't burn Santa's suit!

Welcome to the Tea Room! It's so nice to see you here!

Hello Pennsylvania Jim, good to see you in here.

Our woodburner is working now. What a difference it makes to our sitting room.

Dinner is late this evening. I don't know if I will look in later, I am rather wheezy today. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day.

God Bless

Sheila

Well you'd both better stop sneezing on your computer screen because I've got a scratchy throat and don't feel quite right! Don't share your cyber viruses!

Honestly, hope you both snap right out of this and feel much better in the morning.
