It is a lovely sunny morning here in Gloucestershire. What is the weather like in Naas Roger?

Sunny and cool - beautiful day so far! Good service the monring, although small as usual.
Tonight is our Sunday School Christmas party with just a short devotion.

This evening is our candlelight carol service, followed by a bring and share supper.

Tonight is our youth cantata. I won't be going. The name of the cantata is 'YO! Christmas Tree'. The wind chill will be 3° tonight too!
Oh I had a hard time waking up today. Kept hitting snooze. Jim tosses and turns at night, gets up and down. He got up for good at 5:30. I did get back to sleep for a while tho.

How was your Carol Service this evening? Ours was lovely and Mariel enjoyed it. Sam had to go to work, but he says he will come to church with us sometime. The bring and share supper was also a great success. I have found a great way to avoid over indulging at these events...I volunteer to help with the washing up, hahaha.

Ours was abit more informal, as small as we are we just had a get together and a devotional with a few Christmas - I think we had about 20 here though.

I took German in High School for a year, and a couple of years in University; however that was over twenty years ago, so my use of the German language is a bit rusty. Several of the Christmas Carols were familiar, like Silent Night, for example. The Scripture texts were the familiar ones out of Isaiah and Micah, the Gospel being Luke's account. I may not be able to follow every word anymore, but I sort of have an idea what was being read and sung!

Actually, I did learn a little German at school. It is a language if feel I ought to pick up again because I find quite a lot of quotes and references in German in the theology books I read. However, next semester I am going to re do my Greek module in the hope of improving my "C" grade. We have a different lecturer for this module and the students speak very highly of him and they are getting good grades.

Hi everyone. German is interesting. I took German in school and was needed because of all the German theologians which were never translated into English. Then in real life, there is High German and Low German, both quite different. I had a German Baptist pastorate out west and there were some members who had difficulty understanding each other.
Learning any language always makes English that much more interesting. It expands understanding.
Even French differs in the regions. Just 30 miles from Paris, the French is quite different. High school French will work in Paris, but not in the outlying areas....true also in Canada between Quebec City and Montreal.

We'll be having a candlelight communion service on Christmas Eve. Generally we have a large turnout for our Christmas Eve services. The weather will be warmer by then too.
