How many times, have you seen the wisdom of this New Testament instruction......
1 Corinthians 14:35
“And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.”

What I mean, is how many times have we seen women, speak out of turn and cause trouble in or bring shame to a Church?

hehehe....well this is gonna get fun...:D

These days I'm finding men are far more prone to foot-in-mouth [snipped] disease than women.

We just don't talk about it as much...or think that its okay.

Evidently stilllearning is not a member of the mens private forum.

I will go there and start the same subject - so us guys can be totally honest:saint:

And those of us who have no husbands have no voice.

The is one of the stupidest issues in the church. Depriving 50% (at least) of your membership any say in what goes on in the church. That's one of the reasons I left my last church. If they don't want to hear me, they don't need me. Buh-bye!

Oh boy, here we go again. All the evils of society are placed at the feet of us women, where they belong of course. Yup. If we women would only duct tape our mouths, wear sackcloth and long stringy hair, stay barefoot and pregnant and never speak except to say the only two godly words in our entire vocabulary "yes, dear," the church would suddenly experience a revival the likes of which this world has never seen. There would never be any more disagreement in the body of Christ.

After all, the men are just perfect. Umm-hmm.

I guess all the men are ready to volunteer for choir, teaching the children in Sunday School, Jr. Church, and anything else that might require a woman to open her mouth, right?

Seriously though, I think that maybe the OP is being misunderstood, and he is questioning how often we actually see it happen, as in: we don't very often. Maybe he could better explain his post.

Based on past experience with the poster he couldn't be any clearer. I think I can say that his wife is not allowed to speak in the church nor any other women for that matter.

I see it all the time. No woman speaks to learn in church. By the way, other than the pastor, no man speaks in church to learn either. Our pastor teaches, the congregation is silent and learns.

Hmmm - never?? I honestly have never seen it happen.

When I was in Germany, I visted a Baptist church in Landstual. There was one Sunday School class for children under the age of 8 - taught by a man - of course. Children 9+ sat in the adult Sunday School class.
The only job the women were permitted to do was nursery duty. (maybe KP- but then again, they may have not permitted any food in the church building...)

Hi Salty

I know you were joking, when you said........
“Evidently stilllearning is not a member of the mens private forum.

Because we both know, that all the women here, could benefit, from honest Biblical instruction.

I am being dead serious.
--------------------------------------------------
A word of explanation.

I don’t know anything about any of the women here, but I do know that the BEST for any of us, is to be in line with God’s instructions for us.

Regardless of our personal opinion.

It would be a disservice, to hide God’s instructions to women, so as not to offend them.

I've seen it. We had a woman who left about a year ago and she was loud and pushy and was into the name it/claim it crowd. She watched a lot of that stuff on TV and read their books. She was very vocal about it and didn't mind telling anyone that they were wrong. It has been much better since she left.

On the other hand, there is still a man there that has stirred up trouble, saying the pastor was wrong on several doctrinal issues. Most of his ss class (including me) left to go to other classes when he began this assault of the pastor. He quit teaching for awhile and evidently worked out his disagreements with the pastor, but I wouldn't mind if he left and I certainly will not go back to his class. He is back teaching again, but he is having trouble getting students.

Evidently, this is a problem with both men and women.

The men on this board of are equally in need of biblical teaching, but since I've been a member here (4 years), it is the women that get singled out. We get a little tired of it.

Hi Peggy

Nice to hear from you.

You said..........
“And those of us who have no husbands have no voice.”
This is true.

God’s plan for all women, is for them to have a head over them;
At home, this head will be your father, but after leaving home this head will be your husband.
--------------------------------------------------
I know that this is a TOUCHY subject, but it is very important.

The most dangerous time, in a Christian woman’s life, is when she is out from under her head.
(She is wide open for Satan’s attack!)
--------------------------------------------------
As for the circumstances that places a woman in this situation, there are several:

But I know the our heavenly Father loves them and will take up the slack and protect them, until they can get back under a head.

Hi Amy.G

I skipped ahead to your response because you said this.....
“The men on this board of are equally in need of biblical teaching, but since I've been a member here (4 years), it is the women that get singled out. We get a little tired of it.”
I fully agree, that every one of us, are in need of Spiritual instruction(myself included):

But please, don’t make this a “gender issue”. Because it’s not.

God created men and women, uniquely different.
Each of us having different strengths and weaknesses.

It is a Satanic trick, to set this up as a competition!
--------------------------------------------------
A wonderful thing about a forum like this(not being a Church), is we can all talk about this subject, in light of what the Bible says and learn some important lessons.

The last thing in the world I want to do, is offend anyone.
But these truth’s are important, and NEED to be talked about!

I do not regard "Sunday School"-- at our church we call the different departments or classes "Bible Fellowship Groups"-- as that which comes under biblical mandates about such topics as women teaching men or 'everyone has a prophecy, a tongue, a prayer...' Teaching by classes is a human idea to divide people along various lines and orient the learning and fellowship appropriately.

As for women keeping silent in the assembly-- the kurios; church-- it's hard to see what to do with that instruction these days. Does it mean to address the assembly? be the 'keynote' speaker? or to preach? Even that last one was gotten around by a former church of mine, which I know would not consider a woman pastor, by having a career missionary 'bring the message' and call it a "missionary message" rather than a sermon.

Not exactly.

For sure, "IF" all of us(both men and women), fulfilled God’s instructions for us, at home and at Church, things would run a lot smoother.

But this won’t happen; And you hit the nail on the head, with your last statement.....
“After all, the men are just perfect. Umm-hmm.”

No, none of us have arrived yet.
But that is no excuse, to forsake God’s instructions to us.

SL,
I'm a bit confused. If a woman is still single, and her father is deceased than under whose lordship does she come.

Supposed a woman is a widower, and has a son over the age of 18 - would he become her lord?
