The place of women in the Church

You KNOW the Bible says that. We need to wear shapeless jumpers that go to our ankles and show no womanly figure at all. Socks and ugly black shoes to go with it perfects the look. Finally we need to have hair all the way down our backs but we MUST put it up in a bun and cover it because it's only for our husbands to enjoy - everyone else must think that it's ugly. Oh - one more thing - make-up is a no-no. It doesn't matter if your skin is all red and blotchy, you have bags under your eyes that could take a week's worth of laundry or if you have no lashes. God made you that way and you're beautiful.

THAT is the official "perfect, godly woman" look. :)

mmmm thinking you've just about described a burka without the complete headgear ;)

How many times, have you seen the wisdom of this New Testament instruction......
1 Corinthians 14:35
“And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.”

What I mean, is how many times have we seen women, speak out of turn and cause trouble in or bring shame to a Church?

Oh the joys of dealing with single verses quoted totally absent of context or other relevant passages and then used to make an argument!!

I think I will pass on this one. Although if someone wants to start a thread on Biblical Patriarchy and/or Vision Forum, I am all over that. ;)

Don't you just love modern day fundamentalist garbage!...

Women, go buy a burka, and keep your mouth shut.. you don't have the right "equipment" to be knowledgeable..

I thank God that in Christ there is not male or female!...

Appreciate your input, but I will stick to what the scripture says and not what I wish it would say.

Then I would suggest you get a Greek Biuble and read where it calls Phoebe a "Deacon" not a "deaconess". Can't be much clearer.
