If it were (political), this would be in the political section/forum! :BangHead:

So what do liberals have to do with this then? Stop trying to be needlessly divisive. The decision to spank or not to spank is a personal parenting decision that has nothing to do with ones political philosophy.

As for spanking. I've done it once. No thanks. Never did it again. I don't think people that spank their kids are monsters or anything but it's just not for me.

Taking corporal punishment away from the parents is what is causing our school systems to run amuck. Teachers need to wear riot gear to work nowadays...

What exactly are we talking about here? Is this a wish for teachers to be able to spank kids? Or is this a "not enough parents spank their kids statement."

No. A time-out only goes so far in a lot of instances. Kids get unruly and parents fail to discipline their children. I have to go by my upbringing and how my parents raise me because my wife can't have kids.

Ok, but still looking for the tie-in to riot gear in schools and kids running amok in schools.

I don't know what your argument is (divisive/politically?)? But, if you do not like what I post, find something you do like.

As for your response, that is what I am looking for, and it appears you tried corporal punishment and it didn't feel right for you! Thanks for sharing that.

However, regarding the dust you are intentionally trying to kick up, it appears that you are being totally ridiculous, and that leaves me to believe if your parents spanked you once in a while, you'd probably not have turned out so cantankerous!

Spanking should NOT be the first step of discipline.

But when it comes to that, after the spanking; than it is imperative that you take your child and hug him and let him know that you love him.

This Pope is an interesting person, to say the least. And his most-recent comment is going to cause quite a stir around the world, especially in America, and with the bleeding-heart liberals.

So what are your thoughts on his most-recent holy edict?

The book of Proverbs is all about instruction by a Father to his Son and spanking is clearly addressed and considered appropriate in disciplining children if God's Word is the final authority for faith and practice.

However, the Bible does not support abuse of children. There is a proper role for spanking on the seat of education. Lesser pain (spanking) is said to be a warning for greater pain (hell) for those who continue in rebellion.

Spanking is just one form of discipline, that I reserve for willful open defiance. Time outs, standing in the corner, removing priviledges are all valid forms of discipline for lesser problems or for children beyond the age of spanking.

Totally agreed. Great advice. Godly in fact, because after God chastises us, He reminds us His Son died for us. :flower:
