    Key words "as it is today." The large minority populations can be eliminated and probably will be by the Shia sword of Islam when the US military starts withdrawing. Don't forget, the Shia were under 35 years of Sunni/Baathist rule. There will be vengeance, if Islamic history can be counted on to repeat itself.

    I don't see Iraq and Iran putting aside their differences. An Iraqi Islamic State would be a danger to Iran by supplanting it at the top of the totem pole. It is my understanding that Kerbala in Iraq is the main Shiite holy site.

    I think that if anyone believes that just because both countries have many Shiites in them that they will get along swimmingly that their belief will end up being well of the mark.
