The Rage of White, Christian America

Between Barack Obama’s 2008 election and 2016, America has transformed from being a majority white Christian nation (54 percent) to a minority white Christian nation (43 percent).

But on Election Day, paradoxically, this anxious minority swarmed to the polls to elect as president the candidate who promised to “make America great again” and warned that he was its “last chance” to turn back the tide of cultural and economic change.

One clue to the power of this racial and religious identity can be seen in the striking similarity of a map of white Christian population density by state to the red and blue election night map. While the similarity of those maps in Kentucky and West Virginia might not be a surprise, the same similarity in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania goes a long way to explaining why Hillary Clinton’s Midwestern firewall did not hold on election night.

The choice before the country was starkly clear. Donald J. Trump’s Republican Party looked back wistfully to a monochromatic vision of 1950s America, while the major party fronting the first female presidential candidate celebrated the pluralistic future of 2050, when the Census Bureau first projected the United States would become a majority nonwhite nation.

You are so wrong on this!
The "rage" was pushing bacjk against the liberal agenda of gay marriages, christian views getting trampled down, Obama Care, and just policies that were really against us!

CTB - if you really buying this, if you really believe this -- then you'll never understand what actually happened this election. And all these opinions you're posting, from liberals trying to provide theories -- they're just guesses.

The Rage of White, Christian America

If there is rage it is not from "White Christian America" but the "Hillary Sore Losers" who are venting their rage and riot upon anyone in their way.

I had no idea Christianity was an ethnicity.

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

Ask white supremacists. Ask many evangelicals and their answer will indicate they they, the white evangelicals, are the only Christians.

You are right, Christians are from every country and culture and we should all accept that fact and get along well. That is not the current evangelical American's belief. Sorry.

If you do not believe me ask some of your African-American friends who are black evangelicals to join this board and see how fundamental evangelicals who are member of the BB react to them. There used to be a fellow here who was a black evangelical. I forget his screen name, but he was not treated well.

You have a strange definition of 'rage." Trump haters block traffic, burn American flags-- and buildings-- hang him in effigy, and carry signs that can't be shown on network news. And yet, to you, "rage" is exercising one's voting rights.

“You can safely assume you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.”

Troy, do you think God hates Trump as much as you do?

That is mainly due to many "christias" trying to redefine Gods morality and standards into being more appaing to sinful man!

Also not helpful when ANY who stood against President Obama were labeled"racists" Any not into Black Lives were labeled same way!

Christians just voted to elect an adulterer, liar, rapist, sexual predator , bigoted racist and looked the other way. And you've got the gall to talk about redefining God's morality and standards.[emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji57]

Then why so many missions to the utter most parts of the earth?

HankD
Makes em feel good and turns them into"the good active Christians" in there circle.

Folks around the world right now are probably going "bring us your medicine and the stuff your money bought. But when it comes to the Jesus y'all serve...naah. Y'all elected Trump. I'll stick with my tree god or my Muslim god."

You're a few elections behind. Bill Clinton was elected in the 90s.

When did you achieve sinless perfection then?

And you keep spewing out the liberal hate mongering garbage here, why not address the truth that Hilliary would have been much worse for this nation then him as new president, as she would have just continued the terrible President Obama policies/agenda?
