Because.......I realize, that I need a Bible that I can trust.......
Jeremiah 17:9-10
V.9 The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?
V.10 I the LORD search the heart, try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, [and] according to the fruit of his doings.

If God’s Word tells me that I can’t even trust my own heart, why in the world would I trust my eternity, to some theologian or scholar, to tell me what God’s Word really says.
--------------------------------------------------
Now I know, that some here will be tempted to respond with.......
“.....Well your trusting the theologians and scholars who translated the KJB, what is the difference?”

Well, the KJB, has been tested by the fire of time and attack, for hundreds of years.
(If even 1% of what people say about the KJB having errors, was true, than it would have been cast away long before I came on the scene.)

I need a Bible that I can trust, to tell me the truth about myself, that I won’t even tell myself.

Excellent. If that is what you need to trust God's word then you really have no option.

Good for you. The KJT is among the very best English translations.

What is your basis for making this statement?

Still Learning, can you answer two quick questions for me.

1. If you lived in England in AD 1550 what version would you have used?

2. What do you know about the theologians who translated the Bible into the KJV?

Because, I know that I am not the only Christian, who cares about accuracy.

Therefore I know that if the KJB was just a fraction as “bad”, as I have heard from the world over the years, than I long ago would have sought out a Geneva Bible or a Bishop's Bible or a Wycliffe Bible etc.
--------------------------------------------------
Over the years, I have faced all the claims of mistakes found in the KJB head on:
“When anyone said, it was full of mistakes, I would say, SHOW ME ONE.”

Most of the time they couldn’t, but on the times that they did, a little study proved “them”, to be the ones, making the mistake.

Also I know, that from the beginning, God’s people have heeded God’s warnings of false teachers doing everything they can, to cast doubt on God’s Word;
And have taken whatever steps necessary, to make sure that the Bible that they held in their hands, was God’s Word.
--------------------------------------------------
The KJB wasn’t the all time best selling book for hundreds of years, because every Christian that bought one, was an half-wit.
No, it was because when God’s people studied this Bible, God testified to their hearts, that this was indeed His Word.
--------------------------------------------------
On a side note:
I have noticed, that some get upset with me, when I paste a Bible reference, and say, “The Bible says........”

And they would re-quote my statement, adding to it........
“The(KJV) Bible says........”

Well the fact is, the KJB, is “The Bible”;
And that is why it is so feverishly attacked.

A lot of forums, have a KJVO section. But I have yet to find one, that has a NIVO section, or a NASVO section, or a ESVO section, or even a NKJVO section.

You would be well advised to stick to the translation that your logic and reasoning have led you to use. You need to be able to trust your translation. If the only translation you can trust is the KJT then by all means stay with it. It is an excellent choice.

You did not answer my question-

You said-

By what standards?

By by which judges?

I completely respect your logic and reasoning, even though it is not perfect, because mine isn't either. I do not believe that makes me any less concerned about accuracy because I use a different Bible version that is also accurate- remember "accurate" does not equal "perfect".

I agree. However! one needs to be very careful with how one deals with this issue. If its the only one you can trust thats one thing (and C4K is absolutely right in his conclusion), but if you extend that out to some sort of conclusion which is universally applicable (ie. "Its the only translation that anyone should be able to trust." Or "Its the only trustworthy translation.") then thats something else altogether. The former I can accept quite readily (ie. some brothers being able to eat meat offered to idols and others not), the latter fails too many tests of Scripture and logic to be acceptable.

Haven't a clue what you are saying, but if you read te same text in all three gospels you will get the message in any translation.....including the KJVersion.......if it is the word "city" you are trying to write in Greek.

Cheers,

Jim

I have used the KJVersion all my life and have no plans to change. I am by no means KJVO. My Bible has many, many corrections noted including words that have completely reversed meaning since 1611, but still, it in no way, alters what the Word is saying when read completely.

We can easily correct the seeming contradictions and understand the text. I doubt anyone truly understands the Koine Greek of that day than they do 1611 English to-day. Shucks, we have some problems with everday usage of English to-day between England and the USA or even Canada. What do you do in a layby or in a tailback, and do you wear trainers or a jumper?

Cheers,

Jim

I know you're a moderator, but is not that a derogatory statement about a version of the Bible? I thought that was against forum rules?

Notice that he did not say "the KJV is untrustworthy". Instead he merely implied that *he* couldn't trust the KJV. Additionally, its possible that not even exactly what he meant to imply, but was instead just giving the logical reverse of the OPs statement.

Regardless, construing this as a derogatory statement about the KJV would be imprecise at best.

So you are saying that the KJV translators weren't scholars? That's a new one. Most KJVO people believe that they were better scholars than modern scholars.

The reality is that you have to trust scholars.

(If even 1% of what people say about the KJB having errors, was true, than it would have been cast away long before I came on the scene.)
Not necessarily. Lies have been around since the beginning of time.

I need a Bible that I can trust, to tell me the truth about myself, that I won’t even tell myself.
Maybe your heart is deceived about the KJV being the only Bible you can trust. How do you know it's not if you can't trust your heart, because you sure don't have any Scripture to support you.

I was pretty much a KJV guy, but not KJO. Now, I predominantly use the ESV. I feel it is a good solid version. But, I am not going to bash someone for using a wrong... I mean their own choice of version. :D
