Psalm 125

Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion :
it cannot be shaken; it stands fast forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the LORD surrounds his people
both now and evermore.
Surely wicked rulers will not continue
to hold sway in the land allotted to the righteous,
or the righteous may put their hands to injustice.
Do good, LORD, to the good,
to those who turn aside into crooked ways,
may the Lord make them go the way of evildoers!

Peace be on Israel!

Psalm 128

Happy are all who fear the LORD,
who conform to his ways.
You will enjoy the fruit of your labours,
you will be happy and prosperous.
Within your house
your wife will be like a fruitful vine;
your sons round your table
will be like olive saplings.
Such is the blessing in store
for him who fears the LORD.
May the LORD bless you from Zion;
may you rejoice in the prosperity of
Jerusalem
all the days of your life.
And may you live to see your children's children!

Peace on Israel!

Ecclesiastes 7: 1-10

A good name smells sweeter than fragrant ointment, and the day of death is better than the day of birth.
It is better to visit a house of mourning than a house of feasting; for to be mourned is the lot of everyone,
and the living should take this to heart. Grief is better than laughter; a sad face may go with a cheerful heart.
The thoughts of the wise are at home in the house of mourning, but a fool's thoughts in the house of mirth.
It is better to listen to the rebukes of the wise than to the songs of fools. For the laughter of fools is like the
crackling of thorns under a pot. This too is futility. Oppression drives the wise crazy, and a bribe corrupts the mind.
Better the end of anything than its beginning; better patience than pride! Do not be quick to take offence, for it is
fools who nurse resentment. Do not ask why the old days were better than the present; for that is a foolish
question. Wisdom is better than possessions and an advantage to all who see the sun. Better have wisdom behind you than money; wisdom profits by giving life to those who possess her.
