Yeah I see his point.... but believe it or not... I was thinking of the movie when I said that. Of course I was thinking of arminian too.... but not in a negative way. I know that no true Christian thinks they are above God in any way. I appologize for the insult. Never was meant... truly.

Is this from the same movie? (I-Robot)

Detective Del Spooner: [Sonny has Calvin head-locked with a gun to her head] Let her go.
Sonny: By the time you fire, I will have moved Dr. Calvin's head into the path of your bullet. I will escort you outside to the sentries for processing. Please proceed to the elevator, Detective. I would prefer not to kill Dr. Calvin!
[he winks, Spooner realizes he's bluffing, and both Spooner and Sonny open fire on VIKI's NS5's]

Yep, I think that is the one. My memory is terrible when it comes to movies. I do love science fiction however. Time travel facinates me. The idea of predestination and God's omniscience and omnipresence is just mind blowing. Maybe that is what is wrong with me... lol.

One can not edit their previous posts? If I could I would remove the remark about intelligence. I truly meant no offence. I really wanted this to be light... I suppose it could have been with maybe another subject? Or are some just easily offended?

It does exercise the mind, doesn't it? I guess that is why I enjoy the Cal/non-Cal discussions so much. Others don't seem to understand how fascinating it can be.

Does that mean it is time for the Creator to issue a recall? :tongue3:

Speaking of factory recall reminded me of an email I received. I'd like to share it.

    Factory Recall
The Maker of all human beings is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central components of the heart. This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units - code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units.

This defect has been termed "Subsequential Internal Non-morality" or more commonly known as S.I.N.

    Some symptoms of this defect:

    1. Loss of direction.
    2. Foul vocal emissions
    3. Amnesia of origin
    4. Lack of peace and joy
    5. Selfish. or violent behavior
    6. Depression or confusion in the mental component
    7. Fearfulness
    8. Idolatry
    9. Rebellion

The Manufacturer, Who is neither liable nor at fault for this defect is providing factory authorized repair and service free of charge to correct this S.I.N. defect.

The repair Technician, Jesus, has most generously offered to bear the entire burden of the staggering cost for these repairs. There is no additional fee required.

The number to call in all areas is P-R-A-Y-E-R. Once connected, please upload your S.I.N. through REPENTANCE procedure.

Next, download ATONEMENT from the repair Technician, Jesus, into the heart component. No matter how big or small the S.I.N. defect is, Jesus will replace it with:

    1. Love
    2. Joy
    3. Peace
    4. Patience
    5. Kindness
    6. Goodness
    7. Faithfulness
    8. Gentleness
    9. Self-control

Please see the operating manual, the B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) for further details on the use of these repairs.

WARNING: Continuing to operate the human being unit without correction voids any guarantee or warranty. For free emergency service, call on Jesus.

DANGER: The human being units not responding to this recall action will have to be scrapped in the furnace. The S.I.N. defect will not be permitted to enter Heaven, so as to prevent contamination of that facility.

    In Love,
    God.

P.S. Please assist where possible by notifying others of this important recall notice!

Thank you for that post Amy... pretty cool. Aresbot, I hope we don't have to go to war on this thread... but if we do I'm depending on you.

Seriously though guys. I'm a 5 point calvinist. I'm about as calvinist as they come. I have big problems with calvinism however. I have so many questions. The biggest problem I have is the fact that although God offers salvation to everyone, and He is not under obligation to save anyone, He only saves some. Why does He not change the heart of every individual. That is what I truly desire. I know that i'm glad that God is in control and i'm not however. But it is a real concern.

The deal with choice. I know we truly make choices when it comes to the point of any decision, and we seemingly make free choices within the bounds of the influence upon us. But God being all knowing, do we really make free choices? Now don't just answer yes without really thinking about God's omniscience. If God knows the future, then the future exists as He knows it. If God knows the future, we will always have to choose in a manner that will be consistent with His foreknowledge or decrees... or He truly does not know the future and the future does not exist as He would know it. Does that make sense?

I know the Bible is full of commands for us to make choices which we are responsible to make... but how are we responsible for making choices that we really could have not have made otherwise?

I don't think anyone has the answers. I hate to think of a god who is not really God. In order for God to be who He is... He has to have the attributes that the Bible points out... all the omnis.

I did want this to be a light thread... but maybe in my subconscious, I'm just trying to deal with some heavy issues. Thank you Blammo for keeping this light, and being a friend and brother in Christ. I think you set a great example for all of us. Does anyone have a solution other than the same old worn out debate? I don't think I could be convinced of anything other than God being completely sovereign in all things... and that does not include truly free choices.

In all honesty I think you limit God in Not being able to rule with absolute supremecy IN man choices. Just because God Knows 'what' a person will do with truth does not remove anything from God but establishes more so His soveriegnty than ever before. Lets say this: IF God allowed man to be responsible for what he did with Truth that God would reveal to Him. God is the first cause is He not, or else man is doomed??
Iis it so far fetched a thing to believe that God in His soveriegnty would not have known EXACTLY what that man WILL do (accept or reject) with the Truth given him. Gods soveriegnty incorperates our choice but does not alter His plan for it has been established according to His perfect knowledge constructed by and for His purpose for one thing only - His Good pleasure. Everything comes out just the Way that satisifies His soul.

Is God satified that many will be in Hell. Yes. But not is sense He was excited about sending them that but that this is what they desired; to be seperate from God. That seperation made by their demand decreed they be judged on their own merits outside of Gods love and family. God is satisfied in His Justice which satisfied THEIR choice.
