Jesus was dealing with the rich young ruler, who was having issues with loving his neighbour (near brother, see Matthew 19:21; Mark 10:21; Luke 18:22). Thus Jesus cited the latter table of the Ten Commandments, Commandments 5-10, but in a specific way so was to address the man's issue without directly embarrassing him before the people. Notice the order Jesus gave:

Commandment 6 - Do not commit adultery
Commandment 7 - Do not kill (murder)
Commandment 8 - Do not steal
Commandment 9 - Do not bear false witness, Defraud not
Commandment 5 - Honour thy Father and mother​

Now the rich young ruler, who knew the Ten Commandments, and their "two" tables and division thereof, as he says (see also Matthew 19:20; Luke 18:21):

So, the rich young ruler, even as you or I, which knows the Ten Commandments, their order and division (see Exodus 20:1-17), would immediately see that Jesus was highlighting the 10th Commandment by inversion, or negative by mentioning every other commandment which surrounds it and by the way in which Jesus started with 6-9, then jumped up to 5, skipping over 10. This was done on purpose and with intent that the rich young ruler might understand his issue without being embarrassed, for Jesus loved him. The rich young ruler's issue was covetousness (Commandment 10; Exodus 20:17):

The Roman armies had begun to surround Jerusalem under the first major siege, Cestius. Yet, by the providence of God, Cestius withrdrew, and it allowed the Christians to flee to Pella, &c. It was not until a few years later, in AD 70 that Titus came and none was allowed to leave, yet not one Christian perished, because they had heeded the warning given by Jesus earlier.

The holy place is the space around the outside of Jerusalem, as spoken of by Nehemiah, &c, in which the Roman standards were placed in the siege.

Now, that is all past and done. Yet, there is a repetition of history upon the greater spiritual, a global event, which is even now happening, and the first siege of it is already past, and took place in 1888.

According to the following verse I’d say that Christ had every intention that His Sabbath would still be observed after His death:

The context of this verse is that Christ was warning the disciples about the destruction of Jerusalem, which occurred in 70 AD at the hands of the Roman army. Christ prophesied that this event would happen and it did. Why would Christ be concerned that people observe the Sabbath day at a time that would have been about 40 years after His death if His death was supposed to abolish it? Simple, He wouldn’t be concerned if that were the case, but since the Sabbath, like all His Commandments last forever, He was very concerned and told them to pray concerning it.

Also, the Holy Spirit expressly calls it the “Sabbath day” in Acts 13:14. Aren’t the words of the Holy Spirit good enough since the Holy Spirit is the one who now convicts us of our sin?

Christ clearly taught that "the sabbath was made for man." Mark 2:27. The fact is that Adam was the only man in existence at the time God made the Sabbath. Jesus was the One who made the Sabbath in the first week of time. There was a reason for His claim to be Lord of the Sabbath day Mark 2:28. If He is the Lord of the Sabbath day, then the Sabbath must be the Lord's day. John had a vision on "the Lord's day," according to Revelation 1:10. That day had to be the Sabbath. It is the only day so designated and claimed by God in the Bible. In writing the Ten Commandments, God called it "the sabbath of the Lord." Exodus 20:10. In Isaiah He is quoted as saying, "The sabbath, My holy day." (Isaiah 58:13).

We must not overlook the fact that this God who created the world and made the Sabbath was Jesus Christ Himself. We clearly see it in John 1:1-3, 14. Answer me. Why then Gentiles conducting communion on Sunday and read passages from the Bible about last Passover of Christ, and breaking bread, and drinking worthless grape juice, conducting abomination and perversion of the Holly Passover? Who give you - Gentiles command to do such thing?

Who was present with Jesus on His last Passover? Twelve His disciples, all Jews. To Whom Jesus broke bread and gave drink wine, to His 12 disciples Jews. To Whom Jesus Commanded to observe His Passover and keep memory of Him? To His 12 disciples Jews. None Gentile was among them.

In this case you are absolutely right Gentile Robycap, you have no share in Holy Passover of Jesus and Holy Sabbath of Jesus Christ, you are not His disciple, and because of it you not have to observe the holy Day of the Sabbath, it is not yours.

This verse you took out of its context. The context of the chapter also include Physical Circumcision, which perhaps was the most debated subject than any other in the early Christian community.

And this is why Paul issued this statement below, revealing that physical circumcision is no longer valid, but had been replaced with the Spiritual Circumcision of the heart.

Colossian 2.11
1."And in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands (spiritual circumcision of the soul), in the removal of the body of the flesh by the (spiritual) circumcision of Christ" (Leviticus 26.41) (Deuteronomy 10.16, 30.6) (Jeremiah 4.4, 9.25-26) (Ezekiel 44.7.9) (To Romans 2.29) (To Colossians 2.11 ) (1Corinthians 7.19),

See Robycap, in these three passages indicated some of the physical Rituals. The problem with Colossians, like in many other early churches, was that they still thinking that physical Commandments of the Law of Moses must be still observe. And they desperately arguing about with one another, what to handle (do or not to do something), what to taste (to eat), what to touch (clean unclean), and I am sure they argued about many other things.

The same arguments also applied and to the Sabbath. When Paul wrote this verse (Colossians 2.16) and included Sabbath in it, he does not meant that Sabbath became obsolete like physical Rituals, because Sabbath is not physical Ritual, it is a Spiritual Commandment.

PAUL WANTED TO STOP PEOPLE ARGUING WHAT TO Do oN THE SABBATH AND WHAT NOT TO Do oN THE SABBATH DAY. He does not dismissing the Sabbath Day as you may think.

Read entire verse again. Paul started with "circumcision," "food," then "drink," then "festivals," all of which early Christian Jews and Gentiles argued about, circumcise or not circumcise, what to drink, what to eat, what festivals to observe, and finally, WHAT TO Do oR NOT TO Do oN THE SABBATH DAY.

And we cannot blame them for this, because it was not easy transition from the physical Ritual of the Law of Moses to pure Spiritual Commandments of Jesus Christ in such short period of time.

For us it is all arranged, chew, and put in the mouth. But for early Christians, they had practically nothing to start with, and they had been confused and unsure about many things and how to handle them.

Matthew 5 is the explanation of the Ten Commandments in their depth:

You cannot keep the Sabbath unless you get circumcised.

Jesus points out in order to not break sabbath people had to get circumcised

John 7
22“For this reason Moses has given you circumcision (not because it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man. 23“If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entire man well on the Sabbath?

Circumcision doesn't come from the LAW it was before MOSES. But circumcision was allowed to be done on sabbath that way SABBATH law would not be broken.

So here is your dilemma.

ACTS 15
1Some men came down from Judea and began teaching the brethren, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

Well TO THE CUSTOM OF MOSES = You have to be circumcised and keep sabbath + you have to be circumcised to even successfully keep a sabbath.

If you are a man who is not circumcized You are already breaking the SABBATH. You have broken the law of Moses.

I think you missed that the sabbath is central to the "spiritual" (Romans 7:14) law of God and thus actually requires the spiritual circumcision, which was what God always wanted, a cutting away of "the flesh", the carnal mind:

Deu_10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

Deu_30:6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

Jer_4:4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.​

So. Circumcision still valid? Yep, of the heart.

According to the following verse I’d say that Christ had every intention that His Sabbath would still be observed after His death:

Matthew 24:20
But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

The context of this verse is that Christ was warning the disciples about the destruction of Jerusalem, which occurred in 70 AD at the hands of the Roman army. Christ prophesied that this event would happen and it did. Why would Christ be concerned that people observe the Sabbath day at a time that would have been about 40 years after His death if His death was supposed to abolish it? Simple, He wouldn’t be concerned if that were the case, but since the Sabbath, like all His Commandments last forever, He was very concerned and told them to pray concerning it.

The "concern' was that the city gates are closed before the sabbath begins, and they could not be reopened until it was over. Thus, there was a great hindrance to fleeing Jerusalem when the sign appears if it happens to be on a sabbath. More than a hindrance; actually a prohibition.
