The Secularist's Corner » The Health Care Rage: What’s It Really About?

[FONT:="Century Gothic"]Your rational thoughts please.[/FONT]

One refrain I’ve heard (and seen) repeatedly from enraged protesters at chaotic town hall meetings is, “This isn’t my America,” or “They’re taking America away from me.” Who are “they?” Do you think that all of this anger is really about health care reform? Is it about the unwillingness of an unreconciled minority to accept the legitimacy of an African-American president? Or is it about the economy, expressing itself not as left-wing populism but as right-wing populism (which has always included a strong element of racism)? Do you think that right-wing religion is playing a significant role in this movement, or is the anger unrelated to the passions that fuel many anti-choice and anti-gay activists?

I’ve taken just one public opinion poll on this issue, and the only person I questioned was my 88-year-old mother. She is definitely not a conspiracy theorist, and here’s what she said: “If you don’t think this is about race at the core, you haven’t lived long enough.” I don’t really think that any public opinion poll, however carefully conducted, could elicit a meaningful to the questions I’ve posed. I’m not sure that the protesters themselves know exactly what is fueling their anger.

Yes, of course she is right. We are against the gov't takeover of health care because we are racists. The same reason we were against it when Sec of State Clinton tried the same takeover... we we're racists... No wait it was because we were members of a vast right wing conspiracy.

When their arguments don't win in the court of public opinion, we can always try calling them racists... maybe that will turn the tide for us.

You asked for rational thoughts... and then quoted the "poll" of one who called us racists... that's what passes on the left for rational thought.

Yep that is the told for the left to gain public support. The race card. And it is handy because the President is black. It goes beyond a lack of rational thought, it is the intentional lie the left is using for political power. But after all they are only taking their cue from their lying leader.

Why should we offer "rational thoughts" when the OP itself is irrational??

Let's deal with CTB's "rational" opening thoughts. His basic points:

"These meetings aren't about freedom, liberty, or folks expressing their views. They are about evil, hood-wearing, black-lynching, mouth-breathing, inbred Neanderthals who don't want socialized medicine because Barack is black."

"These barely-walking-erect detours of evolution hate homosexuals almost as much as Barack. And they hate women, too...thus, we get to call them 'anti-choice.' And remember...only loving, enlightened people really love babies enough to allow their mothers to kill them."

"This mob shuffles around (they can't walk too well...the inbreeding withered their legs)...they are looking for a perfect target for their anger: They can't wait to find a pregnant black lesbian teenager, so they can, after forcing her to have the baby, lynch her."

(for those of you deficient in sarcasm, the above points were stated to show what a steaming pile of race-baiting effluence with which CTB opened this thread)

Pretty offensive, huh?

Welcome to the world of Crabtownboy.

Your post was offensive...not just because of its subject matter...but because of the tone of condescension and arrogance that so clearly permeated it.

Maybe...just maybe...those of us who believe in liberty aren't as stupid as you think we are.
Maybe...just maybe...we've done our homework on the government takeover of medicine...and the fact that we are using facts and real-world examples scares you.
Maybe...just maybe...there's a twinge of guilt when you type (even if it's a quote) the "anti-choice" moniker, because you know the truth.
Maybe...just maybe...when you ask for "rational discussions," you secretly know that by "rational" you mean "agree with me," and deep down, you know that most people here won't, and don't...and they have well thought-out reasons why.
Maybe...just maybe...you'll figure out one day that although in any huge group of people there are folks that don't behave or talk too much...doggone it, those Neanderthals you looked down upon had some good points. Better points than you did.

Now...fire away at how "irrational" that was...I just got a fresh batch of "I don't care" juice from the store.

It is always about money. Racism is one of the tools our owners use to keep the assets flowing from the working class to our owners.

Our owners have gotten MUCH smarter over the last 300 years. Instead of owing us as one individual owning another individual, the owner class now owns the working class.

Stupid American working class doesn't even know that they are the working class. Why, they can even work where they want, live where they want, marry whom they want . . . they must be free! But the power and the hard assets keep flowing from us to our owners.

Our owners are smart enough to let us publish lists of the richest people in the world - as long as their names are no on the list. The most powerful person in the world? Probably Queen Elizabeth. Second? Probably Queen Beatrix. Ever heard of her?

Imagine that! We are so stupid to think that freedom to work where we choose, live where we choose, marry whom we choose is actually real freedom.

So my real owner is a couple of queens in Europe? I'll drop them anote saying thanks. :tongue3:

I can agree that you are free to have the ideological beliefs of your choosing. Why does others have to be called names like socialist and accused of being stupid when they have other ideological beliefs?

Do you agree there is still a hint of racism when unemployment rate of black males is so much higher?
